GRID Legends is a typical racing simulator that doesn't have what it takes to pull ahead.

Grid Legends is a more than capable racer but not quite up to par with Codemasters' previous games.

Overall, GRID Legends feels like a bit of a missed opportunity. Its on-track racing is really good fun, and with the right AI and event tweaks, and a little more content, it'd be a really solid sequel to GRID 2019. As it stands, it feels very safe and lacks the personality to really stand on its own amongst the competition. It gets real close to mimicking what PGR did so well all those years ago, but something's missing. Sparks often fly out on the track, but Legends doesn't quite have the spark to make its arcade action stick.

GRID Legends is a racing game that provides some cool elements to the formula but doesn’t do enough to stand out in a saturated market. The amazing graphics and solid controls are a plus, but if players aren’t racing game fans, they could skip this one, especially with the large price tag.

GRID Legends is a lot of fun overall. Its story mode is enjoyable pulp drama while the minute-to-minute racing is genuinely exhilarating. It may feel a little limited overall for those who want a deep racing experience, but players who go in expecting something breezy will find plenty to love here.

If GRID Legends will probably not mark the memories of its players, it still allows to have fun thanks to its varied races.

Grid Legends is a great game that was simply released at the wrong time. PlayStation owners are more likely to jump on Gran Turismo 7, and Xbox owners are most likely still satisfied with Forza Horizon 5. It is hard to slide between these two franchises and achieve much success. Still there is a trial on EA Play so give it a shot. I had a great time with it, but quickly forgot about it after a week. I do wish the game felt more like a successor as opposed to an upgrade to Grid 2019.

Faultless presentation, an absolute raft of superb vehicles across 9 categories, 130 brilliantly rendered circuits in 22 international locations and a 6 hour story mode alongside a huge career and promising online play. But there's nothing here that hasn't been done before and there's a soulless tedium involved as a result which begs the question - why?

Grid Legends is one of the cheesiest games I've ever played, thanks to its Drive to Glory story mode. Putting that to one side, there is a good racing game here with an excellent AI system (that can go a bit awry), some beautiful and well-designed tracks, and cars that feel great to drive. However, Grid Legends is dragged down a bit by the easily-forgettable story mode, and the game is just far too easy even on the highest difficulty. Still, there is a competent racer here that offers plenty of thrilling moments and enough cars and modes to keep fans of the genre happy.

GRID Legends is a solid new entry in Codemasters' racing franchise. It features the same excellent gameplay you've come to expect from the developer, with some nice adaptive trigger implementation in the PS5's DualSense. The game's main draw - the Story Mode - falls short of providing a compelling narrative, ultimately amounting to a mere distracting backdrop to the true star of the show: the races. Visuals look nice, but perhaps not nice enough for the PS5, and the music is overall a bit repetitive and unnecessary. All in all though, GRID Legends is worth a look, but time will tell if it manages to hold its own against the competition.

Although its addition of plot and characters doesn't quite work the racing action is as thrilling as ever, with a huge diversity of vehicles and the compelling handling fans have come to expect from the series.

Grid Legends is a sure step up from Grid 2019 – and its new story mode that looks all the way back to 2002's TOCA Race Driver is a cute and effective flex for a racing series with such history – but it's definitely treading water in some core areas.

Grid Legends is a fun driving experience for fans, but it's pretty far from what Grid has always been for long time virtual drivers and has some ideas that needed a better refinement. Despite this, the game is enjoyable and full of contents to explore.

GRID Legends makes racing exciting again thanks to its concise story mode, strong AI competitors, dramatic races, vehicle variety, and strong multiplayer. It's just a pity that most tracks are too familiar and team management is lacking.

GRID Legends is a racing game that distinguishes itself in its own way. The game has a wide variety of cars, parkours and modes. In addition, it also has a nice story that completely draws you into the role of a racer. With both online and offline gameplay, a great racing soundtrack and fine controls, the game knows how to bring hours of fun. The graphics are also of good quality, but they are still inferior to the two biggest competitors. Fortunately, this is not a factor that will disturb you and entertainment is paramount.

‎GRID Legends positions itself firmly between the pure arcade racers and the real racing SIMS and feels very comfortable there. The races are largely no-nonsense, but do not require in-depth knowledge under the hood. The racing itself is very satisfying and offers quite a few cars to race on a diverse number of tracks and locations. If expansion is desired anywhere, it is mainly there, in the number of locations.‎

GRID Legends lives of ups and downs: it makes decisive steps forward compared to the previous episode, with a good technical realization and a frantic and fun driving model, but it fails to differentiate itself enough when switching cars, flattening the gaming experience. It's suitable mainly for those who are looking for entertainment without too many frills, but less recommended for those seeking something deeper and more refined.

GRID Legends does its job but nothing more. More than ever, it is an arcade experience that promises a lot and delivers some of it, and the result is a franchise that still hasn't found the quality leap it needs.

Grid Legends is an exciting and inviting arcade racing romp, but it doesn't outpace the competition in any particular way. The game's new story mode is more cringey than captivating and a middling amount of content may eventually make you feel like you're circling the same old track. Grid Legends is worth considering if you're looking for some approachable asphalt action, but you may want to wait until the Blue Book price comes down a bit.
