Despite the prospect of fun multiplayer moments, there's just too little content in Nintendo Switch Sports, and the minigames that it does offer have been done better elsewhere in Nintendo's own library.

Where Wii Sports began to lose its grip on you the moment no-one was available to share the joy with, the online and enthusiast-focussed nature of Nintendo Switch Sports is a very good incentive to keep coming back. Even after earning all of the cosmetic offerings on offer for the week, Nintendo Switch Sports continues to be an enticing outlet any time I feel like experiencing the highs of close, edge-of-your-seat competition against another human being.

Nintendo Switch Sports is an overpriced compilation of mini-games aimed for children. It is also very polished but also sorely lacking content and even with golf, it won’t be enough to justify the lack of effort in this product. It is amusing to go online and to rob children of getting a victory, but even that becomes hollow when there are so few ways to make it compelling.

Nintendo Switch Sports promises roughly what you imagine: giving some surprises in some cases, making a thread turn up your nose for its abstruse narrowness in some others, but in general confirming itself at 360 °. All in all, however, one thought can be said with certainty: if a dozen years ago you had fun, you will return to do it today.

Familiar but refreshed, Nintendo Switch Sports is an excellent party pastime with the promise of more fun to come. An unfussy online implementation also improves the experience for solo players.

Nintendo Switch Sports isn’t perfect, but there are certainly improvements to the original formula such as the inclusion of online and the addition of features or modes in some sports. While I doubt it will have the same cultural impact on gaming, it’s certainly still worth picking it up to play with the family or to keep yourself active by challenging others online.

Nintendo Switch Sports offers the same pick-up and play fun that its predecessors did before it. While it doesn't reach new heights, it at least offers more polish than ever before, and the potential for some extremely memorable local multiplayer gameplay.

Nintendo Switch Sports doesn't revolutionize motion-controlled gaming, but instead brings it back at its peak with six enjoyable sports that play great locally or online.

Nintendo Switch Sports is a great way to satisfy any urge to play motion control games. Unfortunately, it doesn't make any effort at being more than that.

Nintendo Switch Sports has moments of fun, but they're buried under forced, inaccurate motion controls and lacking minigames. Only 2 and a half of the six sports on offer here are really fun or engaging, character customization is shockingly sparse, and the novelty wears off in minutes. This feels more like a cheap imitation of Wii Sports, which was free, than anything close to worth the price of entry.

Switch Sports is a game that everyone in your family can play. Seeking more may even be unfair to this game.

Once again, Nintendo has delivered a package of activities that are easy to learn and a blast with a roomful of people. Playing Nintendo Switch Sports really took me back to 2006, and it felt great to play something that made me feel the way the Wii did.

The Wii games felt so revolutionary because they did something deeply innovative with the medium. Switch Sports effectively does the opposite. It's still incredibly fun, especially if you're feeling nostalgic for the halcyon days of motion controls, but in trading content out for accuracy and immersion, it feels empty-even compared to games from 16 years ago.

In its own right, Nintendo Switch Sports is fantastic, doing everything you hoped it would. Super-responsive controls, family-friendly fun, and a solid online and offline co-op system.  However, when you look at what we could have got, and when you compare this to Wii Sports, has the game built on that foundation enough in the last 16 years? I don't think it does. Again, it's a great game and one that I will sink many hours into because it's essentially Wii Sports on the Switch – but when you look at the bigger picture, there is endless potential on what Nintendo could, and probably should, have done. Golf has been confirmed, and I hope that there is more on Spocco Square's horizon, as, with a few more sports and features, Nintendo Switch Sports could become THE must-own game on the system.

While some new aspects feel undercooked and the online multiplayer's reward economy feels imbalanced, Nintendo Switch Sports still has that undeniable charm and endless replayability that we remember.

Nintendo Switch Sports shows that the company still knows how to make simple but extremely satisfying experiences intended for everyone. The simplified representation works wonders for old and new sports, and the controls are easy enough that anyone can become good at their favorites in no time. Solo players who don't go online will be disappointed at the lack of content, but those looking to play against others either locally or online will have a blast. Be sure you're a Nintendo Switch Online subscriber if you want to squeeze the most out of those unlocks.

Nintendo Switch Sports is a solid experience for those nostalgic for the days of Wii Sports. It's lacking in depth and variety, but you'll still be able to get plenty of enjoyment out of it.

So does Nintendo Switch Sports keep the flame alive for Wii Sports? Yes. It delivered an amazing throwback. I look forward to playing this with friends at gatherings because it will be a barrel of laughs and hours of entertainment. I do feel that with badminton being just a two-player Tennis, it took a core slot from a mode that would’ve been unique, but since there are already announcements of new game modes coming, I can’t even say I am disappointed that “X” was not added – they may just add it in the future.

The revival of the legendary 'Wii Sports'. It seems they successfully reflect the company's color. The addition of multiplayer and Pro Rank system allows players to indulge into the game alone, while the competitive system is also simple and easy to challenge. However, it is noticeable that the single play contents are less than the previous title and some games are not easy to fall into.
