In gaming, it's often touted at specific genres, such as the Metroidvanias or Roguelikes of the space; pixel-powered knockoffs or homages to our favourites of yesteryear dotting the proverbial Indie landscape, servicing a wistful bit of throwback while also cashing in on its powerful pull.

Tunic effectively does almost everything you could expect from a game inspired by the pair of green tunic and Master Sword. But don't go in expecting something more than a pale imitation of those things.

Tunic is an isometric action game where players take on the role of a small fox on a big adventure in an unforgiving world. It might look cute, but it is far from soft, presenting a unique, cleverly mixed fusion of Souls-like combat and Zelda-like exploration and puzzles.

Un juego que toma cosas de aquí y de allá pero las hace suyas y construye cosas nuevas sobre éstas.

It is easy to misunderstand TUNIC as an adventure reminiscent of 'Zelda' for its cute, fairytale-like graphics and sound, But the reality is different. While the fox hero grows up overcoming boss battles, the unexpected difficulty stimulates you to challenge more. The catalog styled story and twist also show the game's charms.

If you were looking for a foxy answer to the question "What would happen if Zelda was a Soulslike?" (I don't know why you're looking in a foxy way), you found it.

If you're looking for an isometric RPG with a nostalgic aesthetic and Souls trimmings, Tunic is it: a tough, beautiful action-adventure which rewards the patient and batters the reckless.

Tunic is a challenging and at the same time beautiful game in isometric projection that you can't get enough of. It may be a bit on the short side, but the challenging enemies and a practically unreadable manual ensure that you have a lot of time in Tunic.

Delightfully difficult combat and meaningful exploration make Tunic a retro-inspired modern marvel.

Tunic left a very positive impression on me. I haven’t enjoyed an adventure game like this in quite some time. Tunic cleverly drops the player in its world and just lets them discover things for themselves without feeling overbearing or confusing. It’s a feeling I don’t think I have felt since the good old retro days. Most of all I left most sessions with a smile whether I made progress or not. If that sounds good to you, then I strongly suggest checking it out.

We’d use one word to sum up TUNIC: delightful. Few games will make you feel so skillful and clever, and fewer still will have the ability to slap a grin on your face.

A wonderful game, reminiscent of both the old "Zeldas", and The Witness, and Fez, and other iconic releases. Instead of completely copying ideas, it adds its own unique "chips", thanks to which it will go down in history.

Thanks to a fantastic world, and a series of magnificent puzzles, Tunic is positioned as one of the best independent games of 2022.

Playing Tunic feels like revisiting something old, not like something new and original. It's an engaging indie gem with beautiful graphics and oldschool adventuring, but its lack of narrative can make you feel lost and not interested.

TUNIC is a genre-bending breath of fresh air that includes elements from other popular games that all grease the wheel for an exceptional gaming experience. A must-play for all gamers, especially due to its inclusion on Game Pass.

And yet, despite its obvious muses, Tunic manages to rise above mere flattery, by paying deeper homage to the medium itself.

Shouldice and crew looked back to the past and pulled from the present to craft an endlessly engaging puzzle-box that's chock full of secrets, many of which I still haven't found. I can already hear the siren call of discovery pulling me back, and it sounds a lot like ambient techno. Are you curious enough to heed it?

Tunic had a lot to live up to after years of built up expectation, and it doesn't just meet them, it shatters them and stands out as one of the most joyous gaming experiences I've had in years. It takes a little while to feel at home in Tunic's gorgeously rendered world, but once it clicks and the secrets of the masterfully constructed in-game manual start to reveal themselves, the resulting game is up there with the likes of Zelda in terms of exploration and discoveries.

‎Tunic is one of the great surprises of this year, thanks to its varied and beautiful world, a soundtrack that is recorded on fire in your head and a gameplay that, although sometimes has some other failure, makes us enjoy an adventure that will give you what to talk about.‎
