Saints Row: IV Re-elected on the Switch is a much-welcomed game as it runs amazing in handheld and docked mode, brings a beloved franchise to millions of gamers, and almost feels a bit naughty to have next to my Mario games. With its smooth gunplay, game mechanics that mesh well with the control scheme of the Switch, and ability to cram all of its explosive, expansive, and destructive gameplay into your hand, you cannot pass this game up.

Saints Row IV is a farce about gangs running government and alien invasions, but its also a smart, ridiculously fun statement on one game developer's journey.

"Saint's Row IV is an important game, because it ignores convention in order to be insanely fun – emphasis on the "insane""

Aside from a less than stellar control system for combat, there's very little negative to be said about Saints Row IV: Re-Elected.

EXCELLENT - Saints Row IV was Volition intentionally jumping the shark with their own franchise and somehow taking it to new heights in the process. Fanfare for the Saints brand faded a bit thanks to both time and some poorly received spin-offs, but even still I’d say this is a game absolutely worth owning on the Switch. This was a dark horse game of the year contender back in 2013 and a cult following for the title continues to this day. It’s a non-stop sci-fi romp with as much heart as senseless explosions.

It show its age in some details, but still is one of the funniest open world adventures out there, mixing ideas and mechanics from games like GTA, Crackdown or Prototype. It's crazy, ridiculous, hilarius and parodies lots of games. A pure madness that last more than 20 hours, optional tasks aside, with an entertaining plot and coop mode.

It's rude, it's crude, and until Rockstar decides to port something better than LA Noire over or Sucker Punch stops being a Sony studio, it is the most fun you're going to have in an open world crime or mayhem type game on the Switch.

Saints Row IV: Re-Elected may not be the best Saints Row game but it’s still tonnes of fun! Whether playing on your own or with you homie in co-op mode, there’s a multitude of activities, side missions, story missions, and challenges to complete, not to mention the hundreds of orbs to find and collectables to… collect. With the addition of all the DLC, the massive open-world adventure just got even bigger, providing many, many hours of entertainment and mindless destruction. If you like Crackdown, you’ll thoroughly enjoy this new direction for the Saints Row series.

All in all, although the Switch port of Saints Row IV still features framerate issues and isn’t exactly a pretty game, it compensates by being hilarious, chock-full of content, and incredibly fun. The sole act of fooling around the map with your superpowers, wreaking havoc, and killing everyone in sight, will entertain you for hours.

Despite being a seven-year old game, Saints Row IV: Re-Elected remains a hell of a lot of fun to play, with the zany narrative and the over-the-top gameplay still standing tall in 2020. Best of all, the Nintendo Switch port is a good one, with a steady performance throughout – it’s certainly an improvement over Saints Row: The Third, so those put off by their early experience there can rest assured everything is a lot smoother this time around. Whether you’re looking for an open-world action-packed fix or just want to play a really weird game, Saints Row IV: Re-Elected is certainly a worthy addition to any Switch owner’s library.

The Saints' first experience on the current-gen consoles is a rousing success, with Saints Row IV: Re-Elected being one of the most fun games to release in a long time, as one can play across hours and hours of jolly mayhem.

While I wouldn't call Saints Row IV: Re-elected "essential", it's absolutely worth a look if you like your fun loud and just a little bit irreverent.

Nothing much has changed in this pleasantly priced next-generation port, but its lunatic shenanigans are as entertaining as ever

Saints Row 4 is one of the most beloved games in the cult-classic franchise, and it works surprisingly well as a portable game with a huge fun-factor.

Saints Row IV Re-Elected is a bumper bundle of joy whichever way you want to cut it. Anyone in possession of a last-gen copy need not upgrade though as there is no significant upgrade in technical terms to warrant a re-purchase on these grounds. For those new to it, you're in for a treat.

Love it or hate it, Saints Row IV: Re-Elected's obsession with the ridiculous is what sets it apart from the rest of the market, and the PS4 re-release is the best way to experience the madness. Coupled with extra expansions (including Gat Out of Hell if you buy the bundle), there's plenty of value to the package, even if it doesn't take the opportunity to build upon the PS3 original. A blast from start to finish, the president's tale of vengeance is the stupidest fun that you can have on Sony's newest console, and we mean that in the best possible way.

If you've already played Saints Row IV, Deep Silver was clever in their release, and are offering a bundle with Gat Out of Hell. Unfortunately, this review isn't for the full combo with Gat, and by itself, Saints Row IV Re-Elected doesn't fully justify its campaigning for another term.  If it's your first time in office, however, then this is a great opportunity to jump in and take part in what is a pretty awesome open world super-powered (anti)hero game.

A love letter to where it came from and an advancement of its best ideas into something bigger, more cohesive, and infinitely more fun.

While Saints Row the Third proved a more inconsistent port – mainly because it was a much older game – Saints Row IV: Re-Elected fares far better with better performance, minimal input lag and a refreshingly solid output in handheld mode. It's gunplay is always going to be messy and its unashamed sense of humour will undoubtedly offend some, but having such an activity rich experience running so well on your handheld console isn't to be sniffed at. And with so much extra content available in the Re-Elected package, Switch players have another long-term investment on their hands.
