We Were Here Forever is a title that stands out on its own. I for one was in awe of what this game has to offer, from its strange story to the various challenges the game throws at you. Fully encouraging players to communicate clearly and really define the term “teamwork”. Nothing can be achieved alone in this game.

We Were Here Forever offers another gripping co-op puzzle adventure that is more varied, clever, and prettier than the releases that came before it. The vast majority of the puzzling feels rewarding to solve thanks to the unique variety of enigmas on offer, whilst the need for proper communication is more important than ever before. When you do finally put the pieces together of a puzzle with your partner though? It’s super rewarding. There were some puzzles that were bit annoying, whilst some areas of the game felt a little bit drawn out thanks to the longer length. Thankfully, these issues don’t stop We Were Here Forever from being a ton of fun to play, with the series going from strength to strength with each subsequent release.

We Were Here Forever was a great experience even if the ending was devastating. The game’s puzzles are thought-provoking and each side of the puzzle has its own feel; you will need to play the game twice to experience each side. The game’s visual bugs, although annoying, were easy to fix and get around. The game’s music was enjoyable and alluring often setting the mood for the level. Control-wise, playing with a keyboard and mouse is an easier time, but for those who like using a controller, you will still need a mouse. The game’s replay value is there especially if you plan to play with random people and is still worth buying if you have a specific person in mind.

Transitory issues aside, We Were Here Forever is, at least at the time of writing, my favourite game of the year thus far. At times it frustrated, but all that did was make the completion of its various brain teasers all the more satisfying. The mark of a truly fantastic game is one that aligns all its elements around a central purpose or goal. In this title, everything orbits around testing the skill of its participants, and that makes for a truly memorable experience for its pairs of players.
