Evil Dead: The Game is clunky but loveable. It's a very good movie-to-video game adaptation, and it's likely as close as we're going to get to a proper and decent "Evil Dead" video game. I had a good deal of fun with it, both as a fan of the movies and as a gamer. It twists a familiar game concept just enough and bolsters it with additional mechanics so that it feels fresh again. Longevity is definitely a concern in terms of content, but at least console cross-play ensures that its player base will stay healthy for a little while.

Evil Dead: The Game manages to tick a hell of a lot of boxes when it has no business too. The hammy horror is surprisingly well put together and the balance between good versus evil feels fair during play. The cabin in the woods is lovingly recreated, Campbell’s snarky and witty remarks are out in force and terrorising players as the Kandarian Demon is something any fan can get on board with. Each of the survivor classes offers unique ways to play and while there are a few drawbacks such as the lack of a meaty single-player and camera issues, Evil Dead: The Game is an entertaining, fun game that can be summed up in one, all-encompassing word: Groovy.

Are you ready to step in the shoes of Ash Williams and face off against the armies of darkness? In this chaotic co-op PvP multiplayer based on the iconic Evil Dead franchise, you can play as good or evil – team up with three other players, explore, loot and fight as you play as characters from all three original Evil Dead films or take control of the Kandarian demon and hunt down Ash and his friends, possessing Deadites, environmental objects and even other players in an attempt to either kill or stop the survivors from completing their objectives.

For fans of the Evil Dead Franchise, this is a no-brainer and totally worth it. The amount of fan service is excessive, well done, and enjoyable. If you have never watched Evil Dead, there is still a fair amount of fun gameplay here. But will I still be playing this game next year? I'll need some more game modes, characters, and tweaks. In the meantime, it is a groovy good time.

Evil Dead certainly does not feel unfinished, but it does seem to be a first step towards something larger. Saber has an excellent multiplayer game that aspires to be a juggernaut in the hobby, and I hope players take notice.

We recommend Evil Dead: The Game with 7 points out of 10. Frequent updates and promised additional content to prove that the developers care about the game and do not want to stop soon. You will enjoy the game if you are a fan of the series. But if you come from a camp that has never seen a movie, don't despair. The game brings enough great mechanics to catch you for hours and entertain you.

Despite presenting a number of interesting ideas, Evil Dead: The Game is an experience that quickly becomes monotonous. Not even Bruce Campbell's charisma can exorcise this game of his problems.

Light on content, but high on entertainment value, Evil Dead: The Game is an asymmetrical multiplayer experience that brings the humor, gore, and high-octane thrill of slaying deadites to fans of both mediums.

It’s ultimately more fun with friends, but only really if they’re also into Evil Dead as a franchise. And even then, references and nostalgia can only get you so far. Ultimately, Evil Dead the Game can be improved by patches and I’ll be happy to return to it when it is improved. As for now, I’ll stick with my film collection for my Evil Dead fix.

Evil Dead: The Game needs some polish to take it to the next level, as there are some areas that could do with some quality-of-life improvements, and to fix some of the weird physics.

In its current state of this review, Evil Dead: The Game is sorely lacking content and variety, but it does have a lot of potential. A medieval inspired stage called Castle Kandar is going to be included in a future update and who knows; maybe the 2013 remake might get represented one day. There needs to be more fleshed out single player material and different modes for sure.

An essential purchase for fans of Ash Williams and the unique blend of gore and comedy that the Evil Dead series has created, this asymmetrical horror game builds on the foundation that games like Dead by Daylight have laid. It might not innovate but there’s a surprising amount of content and replayability in Evil Dead: The Game that raids 40 years of film and television for ideas and puts them to excellent use.

Evil Dead: The Game can be fun in short bursts, but at the moment of writing, the game's begging for more content to keep itself fresh and populated.

Evil Dead: The Game is a multiplayer survival horror game similar to Dead by Daylight. A team of Survivors takes on a Kandarian Demon. When the ritual comes to a halt, the Survivors have won. The gameplay is best played with friends, but the game is also very good to play alone.

The game is a fun diversion and fun in groups and gives fans of the series the action and nostalgia they have come to expect. Some may cite a lack of initial depth to the gameplay and maps but I am sure as time goes on and more updates arrive, the game will continue to grow.

Evil Dead: The Game blew away my expectations. As a fan of the series I was both excited and worried going in. Could an Evil Dead game would be done right in 2022? The answer is a resounding yes. This is absolutely the best example of an asymmetric multiplayer game to date and one that fans of the series and horror fans in general should check out.

If you’re happy to ignore its single-player mode, Evil Dead: The Game is a well-balanced and fun asymmetric horror title that stands above all other games in this growing sub-genre.

Evil Dead: The Game succeeds with its multiplayer component, which is still enjoyable with friends, but if you're looking for a single-player experience, you'll be disappointed.

Evil Dead: The Game shows remarkable potential and incredible fidelity to Sam Raimi's work, with engaging PvP and PvE dynamics especially when played with friends. There is no lack of flaws such as overly repetitive content, some technical problems and an underdeveloped single player mode, but Saber Interactive's title remains an enjoyable act of love for Sam Raimi's work that every fan should try.
