Souldiers Reviews
Souldiers is an interesting new metroidvania with souls-like combat. A great adventure that will take us through the lands of Terragaya by one of the three possible playable characters. The game has all the elements to become one of the classics of the genre but it lacks a few adjustments and a final polish that we hope will come in the form of future updates.

Souldiers fulfills the elements of a Metroidvania and has its own touch that allows it to offer something different. It is rare that a game of this type does not comply and this is not the case, so if you are looking for an adventure of this type and with an attractive challenge, Souldiers is a good option

There is a vast supply of quality metroidvanias on the market and Souldiers is yet another game that goes into that pile. However, there are a lot of technical issues and there are no major innovations here. Although it is quite enjoyable and fun for the most part, there is no revolutionary content in Retro Forge's debut game.

Souldiers is a wonderfully looking sprite game with a fun take on the Metroidvania; a diet version of the subgenre that brings well-designed and long dungeons packed with smart platforming and puzzle-solving.
Souldiers is a fantastic adventure that manages to find the right balance between its different elements.
Souldiers seduces. Retro Forge manages to infuse him with a certain "soul". The world offered is beautiful, the characters who populate it pleasant, but the universe is ruthless.

For a game composed of familiar elements, Souldiers still managed to surprise me. If nothing else, the game’s execution is exemplary. Even if you’ve played a ton of pixel art, soulsborne, and Metroidvania titles, this particular blend is a satisfying one. The art direction is beautiful, the controls are tight, and design is rock solid. If you’re looking for a new 2D adventure, Souldiers will easily scratch that itch.
Originally impressed by my time with it when I played the demo for it from Steam Next Fest, Souldiers is a Metroidvania I’ve had my eye on without a doubt...
Don’t go into Souldiers if you’re looking for a hardcore challenge, but if you’re looking for something fun to play, with a great world, an extensive array of upgrades, items, and places to visit then this game is for you.
Overall, Souldiers is a unique title that honors old-school tough-as-nails platformers while offering something familiar to contemporary RPG enthusiasts. I wish I knew that going in but I suppose It all worked out well in the end. I ended up liking the game for completely different reasons. And hopefully, other players can give this title a try too. Maybe once the balancing issues have been sorted out.
Its difficulty can be desperate, but if you are not afraid of great challenges or get stuck without knowing how to continue, Souldiers is a gem that no lover of retro, metroidvania and pixel-art should miss.

Souldiers has been a surprise of 2022, a combination of genres that leads to exquisite gameplay with an artistic style reminiscent of 16 bits.

This game is incredible. For only $20, you get a complete gaming experience without microtransactions. Gameplay, Music, Story, Graphics... This game is the total package.
If you want the kind of game that makes you suffer and enjoy it, consider enlisting Souldiers and its fantasy trappings.
Souldiers is a metroidvania with touches of RPG that comes to show us once again that a well-kept title can become a must-have for anyone.

Souldiers is an all-around joyful experience; its three classes being unique enough from each other, warranting different playthroughs. The use of different elemental types to fight enemies and gain an advantage, plus using them to traverse the world, is a great implementation. Characters feel unique, enemies are distinguished and not just reskins throughout, and the ambient sounds are all great. A genuinely memorable game all metroidvania fans should check out.
Just in case I haven’t made it clear enough, Souldiers is absolutely a modern-day classic. It’s also in the running for my favorite game of 2022—it’s really just that good. Between its engaging level design, gorgeous visual appearance, addictive combat mechanics, and its class-based system giving it three times the replaybility… you really owe it to yourself to get this game if you consider yourself a Metroidvania fan.
Souldiers is a must-play title for anyone who loves Metroidvania-style games with RPG and platforming elements thrown in. Despite a few hiccups at launch, v1.1.1 addresses all the issues, making this gorgeous-looking and -sounding game one you shouldn't miss!
Souldiers has a lot of soul to it but it’s not an experience that will click with everyone with its unpredictable spikes in difficulty and slow start to the game. It feels like it could do with some balancing with the difficulty that the developers are working on, so maybe consider keeping this on your wishlist. After spending time with it, I did find an awful lot to like about this game. I’ll absolutely be checking in on the Switch version for performance updates and to play through as a new character class. At this stage, it feels like a hidden gem with some rough edges. If you’re able to look past them you will find a burning soul of joy in Souldiers.
