Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is a very memorable action game, but it doesn't mean much to a new audience.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge is a game for and by series fans, but also doubles up as one of the most fun beat 'em ups around. It even edges out mighty titles like Streets of Rage 4 and Scott Pilgrim with its intuitive controls and 6-player multiplayer. To put it into perspective, I am a fan of the Turtles but haven't followed them since I was a child. From start to finish, I was grinning from ear to ear as nostalgia washed over me and my love of beat 'em ups was catered to with its addictive gameplay. While it's more of an essential purchase for fans of the Ninja Turtles and provides long-time fans with references and nostalgia by the boatload, there is enough fun to be had here to not only justify its price tag but make it feel like that feel-good game of the summer. It's one where you can sit down either by yourself or with friends and really have a great time every time you play.
I've been eagerly anticipating Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge ever since it was announced. My lofty expectations were ridiculously sky high and surely a bar that could never be reached. So, it is a statement of the game's quality that it exceeded even my wildest dreams. This is the best scrolling beat 'em up since Streets of Rage 4 and in the top ten of all time. A nostalgia-injected nunchuck whack of love to the brain, Shredder's Revenge It is not to be missed. Cowabunga indeed.
As someone who has barely any nostalgia for “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” Shredder’s revenge turned out to be a fantastic beat ‘em up on its own. Stages are short but sweet, there’s enough gameplay mechanics to please both newcomers and veterans alike, and it’s just a blast all around to play. While I wished for more stage variety, I am sure to keep coming back to this for many years to come.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge is a game with one foot in the 90s and the other in the present. The foundation is just like in the old 2D classics, but honed control and smart additions do a lot for the whole. This is modern retro at its best.

Shredder's Revenge is therefore a game that with its many nods to the past is mainly intended for the fan and feels almost perfect for them. The game has everything from nostalgia to good, new additions. The game misses the finishing touches here and there, but the biggest problem is the chaos that arises in multiplayer and a few missed opportunities. At the bottom of the line, this is a game that is entertaining for everyone, but will not be equally special for everyone.

Even more so, it manages on its own merit, to stand out as a competent beat'em up for new generations that want to try it. This is an essential title for any lover of the genre and a great way to spend an evening well spent.

I figured the game would be fun enough, and maybe scratch a nostalgia itch. I was not expecting a genuinely fun and engaging experience. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge delivered so much more than I was expecting.
TMNT: Shredder's Revenge is simultaneously an excellent throwback to the classic Turtles beat 'em ups and a solid new modern brawler in its own right.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge looks like an old school game that moves with the times. It plays like a classic beat 'em up and offers enough variety to keep it interesting. The game has 6 player co-op and can entertain both young and old. For most, the game will bring a lot of nostalgia.

Despite the lack of content and unlockable stuff, Shredder's Revenge is more than worth it to play it. The story mode is great, and you'll probably want to spend a couple of evenings in the Arcade mode too.

As a fan of the original arcade coin-suckers, I can say that Shredder’s Revenge hits the right notes in all departments. However, modern gamers who didn’t grow up with cartridges that needed a good blow and a bang might find the admittedly simple and one-direction gameplay a bit too basic. Basically, if you’ve used a VHS player in real life, you’ll get what Shredder’s Revenge is all about. If you’ve never touched a floppy disk, you might get bored of button bashing by Episode 6.
We’re living through a beat ’em up renaissance, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge is the very best to come out of it yet. Dotemu and Tribute Games have delivered a stunning package that not only celebrates nearly 40 years of Turtles history, but the end result is also an addictive beat ’em up that easily stands among the best of the bunch in the genre.
Our young turtles are back with the soul of 90s. Shredder and Krang are still as fearsome as ever. But this will not stop our heroes in a half shell

Behold the best game so far in the TMNT franchise. Bold words, I know, but TMNT: Shredder's Revenge is a game that takes the classic formula of the arcades to new standards. A masterpiece by Tribute games not to be missed.
