Siblings Amicia and Hugo went to hell and back in A Plague Tale: Innocence in their quest to survive an inquisition, endless hordes of rats, and the humans that looked to take advantage of the young boy's curse. And now, in A Plague Tale: Requiem, they must pay the devil his due. This is the tale of the duo wanting to control their own fate as the fragile peace they had found falls apart, and the harsh lesson that their choices have consequences. As a game, Requiem is a bigger, better, and more ambitious adventure over its predecessor, but as a story, and a look into the lives of the characters that inhabit it, it's so much more.

A masterclass in narrative games design, A Plague Tale: Requiem is one of the most atmospheric and beautiful games you could ever wish to play. Amicia and Hugo's journey is powerful, evocative and downright disturbing and somehow manages to be greater than the original. Asobo Studio has crafted satisfying streamlined rat, light and stealth gameplay that perfectly serves the story it's trying to tell and only adds to the narrative intensity. A Game Of The Year contender for certain.

A new gem has appeared in the next-gen. Requiem is bigger and better than Innocence, even with a more mature narrative. And probably has the most realistic graphics ever seen on a console. A 2022 essential.

A Plague Tale: Requiem was able to provide us with an impressive story experience that in many parts surpasses the first title with very elaborate and enjoyable gameplay. And to make this art piece shines the right way, it was necessary to add solid graphics that fit the capabilities of the new console generation with fantastic music appropriate for the events, which undoubtedly makes it a fierce competitor for the award of the best game in 2022.

A Plague Tale: Requiem is one of the most emotionally satisfying games I have ever played. I was stunned by the emotionally charged, beautifully presented, and impeccably acted story which is brought to life by incredible technical feats which showcase the power of the PS5. Time and again I was surprised by the sheer bleakness that the story was brave enough to dive into and the thrill of watching hope attempt - and often fail - to overcome those seemingly insurmountable odds. Requiem is a story which both uplifts and decimates your emotions at the same time; a story about characters that feel real and that you grow to care and root for. By the end you too will be shouting, "I am Amicia de Rune and I kneel to no one."

A Plague Tale: Requiem impressed with the time I was able to spend with her. It's clear that Asobo is working on fixing the biggest flaws in 2019's A Plague Tale: Innocence. This improved the quality of movement and resource management, expanded Amicia and Hugo's skill sets, and expanded the levels to encourage more creative interaction with your surroundings.

A Plague Tale: Requiem is a fantastic game. The graphics are beautiful, the soundtrack is amazing, the gameplay is very good and the story is immersive and impactful. There are a few minor technical problems – which are far from ruining the experience – and, because it is a linear and plot-focused game, there's not much to do once you've finished the campaign.

A Plague Tale: Requiem, simply said, a well-crafted masterpiece. It improves upon the original in every way and contains all the features one would expect from a sequel. The game's varied mechanisms keep things interesting, and the excellent pace makes you feel like you got the right amount of each element at the right moments. The plot itself is engaging enough to overcome a few gameplay issues, providing a compelling sequel even though it may seem like a rehash of the original in many aspects.

A Plague Tale: Requiem is not a perfect game but it is a perfect example of how to take everything that's come before and improve all facets of its development. From the beautiful soundtrack to the stunning locales; from the thematically resonant story to the tight gameplay mechanics; Plague Tale: Requiem is an absolute joy to play through and easily one of this year's best games.

A Plague Tale: Requiem doesn’t reinvent what made the first game great. Instead, it builds on what worked and makes everything better. From graphics and sound to combat, A Plague Tale: Requiem adds a layer of depth a polish we didn’t even realize was missing the first time around. A lot of gamers missed A Plague Tale: Innocence, but everyone should play this altogether amazing sequel.

A Plague Tale: Requiem delivered a much more evolving adventure, coupled with enhancements in almost every aspect that gifted a more exciting and terrifying experience and felt like playing in a movie. Although, the combat system had the game lose a few excellent points, despite its upgrade. Nonetheless, this game is a few levels above its predecessor.
