Pac-Man World Re-Pac is a fun look Pac in time to an era where 3D platformers were far more prominent than they are today. While it doesn't quite outclass some of its contemporaries like Crash Bandicoot Warped and Super Mario 64, Pac-Man World isn't one to miss if you're looking for another solid 3D platforming adventure. Depending on how you view the new difficulty balances (or if you just really love Ms. Pac-Man) this is undoubtedly the best way to experience the PS1 classic.

Pac-Man World Re-Pac is good 3D platformer, but struggles to stand out against other modern offerings in the genre.

A fine modernization of an old classic, funny and clever enough to entertain in the few hours needed to complete it.

Pac is back with its first PlayStation adventure. This time the yellow fellow must save his family across six worlds, full of danger and (obviously) ghosts. A nice platform game for young and nostalgic players.

The return of Pac-Man on gaming machines marks a historic event for all fans of the original title, because this re-edition carries the weight of the experience lived in 1999 lowering it in our days, after some small adjustments in terms of quality of life and visual modernization.

When I find that my complaints largely have to do with wishing there was more content in a game that is already perfectly sufficient, I know that I’ve had a good time. It feels strange to call Pac-Man World a “classic,” but the numbers don’t lie. The original game sold 1.5 million units, was well-received by critics and justified a number of sequels. Bandai Namco is most justified in trying this on to see if there’s room to revive the Pac-Man World property with new games, and based on the quality of this, I’d like to see what a new Pac-Man World looks like down the track.

A competent, if unwarranted, remake of an amiable 90s platformer that most people have long since forgotten – if they're even aware it existed in the first place.

The choice to make resolution mode the default display option on Switch is baffling when the game runs so much better in performance mode with a minimal hit to resolution, but this can be quickly fixed with a visit to the options menu. Pac-Man World has never been one of the best 3D platformers of all time, but it is a classic well worth playing today. Let's hope that Pac-Man World Re-Pac is a sign of more Pac-Man World to come.

Pac-Man World Re-Pac is an enjoyable remake of the PS1 original with a charming presentation and gameplay that holds up well, although the price tag is a little much.

The core gameplay is still fun after more than two decades and the new coat of paint looks quite lovely which combined with the 30-dollars base price make Pac-Man World Re-Pac a good choice for fans of the franchise.

Following up this past May’s Pac-Man Museum+, Now Production is back for a second rerelease this year in Bandai Namco’s ever-expanding franchise. As the developer jumps from their arcade onslaught to a focus on the PlayStation’s 3D roots, Pac-Man World Re-Pac is yet another remaster from the yellow icon’s trove of experimental adventures fans shouldn’t miss out on even if it suffers from several issues. Like Namco’s recent Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Collection, Pac-Man World Re-Pac stands in the same line of fire as the publisher’s other remasters, as a decent-enough update does little to fix its actual content.

There’s still quite a bit to enjoy here, such as the collectible mazes found through the game, some of the challenges found throughout the levels, and the boss fights which are easily the highlight of the game.

Pac-Man World Re-Pac isn't a game that we'd suggest you rush out and buy at once, but it does a good job of reviving a decent 3D platformer for modern audiences. Tight controls, lots of collectables, and enjoyable level design ultimately outweigh minor performance hiccups, and a general lack of imagination. If you don't consider yourself a fan of platforming or Pac-Man, nothing here is going to change your mind and we'd suggest you pass. If you like classic-style 3D platformers, Pac-Man World Re-Pac will absolutely prove itself worth your time, even if it doesn't impress like the best in the genre.

For its time, Pac-Man World was a revolutionary revival of a long dormant franchise. Nowadays, PAC-MAN WORLD Re-PAC is still a fun platformer, but it does feel a bit by-the-books, especially since we’re aware of the improvements featured in the original game’s sequels.

Pac-Man World may not be Pac-Man World 2 like I’d hoped, but it’s still a solid classic platformer with enough unique elements to help it stand out. Those who have played the original will no doubt appreciate the nostalgia, but those like me who missed it originally will still have a good time.

As a remake, Pac-Man World Re-Pac definitely ticks plenty of boxes when it comes to transforming an older game into one that fits into the present gaming landscape. The platforming is solid, the presentation is up to snuff, and there is no beating nostalgia sometimes. The game is unlikely to garner a new following save for a curious bunch, and is purely aimed at hardcore Pac-Man fans who are looking for something new yet old to enjoy, yet, that is not such a bad thing after all.
