‎Shin chan: My summer with the teacher fulfills its goal of making us feel like children through Shinnosuke's carefree eyes, with the sense of humor of the series, something that fans will love. But its very slow pace and very limited gameplay (it seems like a graphic adventure that almost does not evolve) will not be to everyone's taste.‎

Apart from mashing together two classic Japanese IPs, Shin chan: The Endless Seven-Day Journey mashes together some quite contradictory concepts and comes up with something special. You have the directionless, simple adventures of a child's curiosity on a rural holiday, but they're interrupted quite suddenly by a tightly directed (and completely absurd) plot. Wacky sitcom energy quickly becomes the drive and purpose in a game that could have been merely a wholesome meander-em-up. So there is the soothing magic of endless days running round fields and just seeing what catches the imagination, but also a heavy steer to play a story from end to end, packaging the never-ending summer into a punchy and dynamic 15-20 hours. Knowing now what Kureshin and Bokunatsu are, if you think you like the idea of mixing the two, this game is very easy to recommend.

It's not perfect though, and I think your mileage is going to vary on some of its slower aspects. Still, I can't believe this was released worldwide in the first place. What a time to be alive.

It is paradoxical, because Shin chan: Me and the Professor on Summer Vacation -The Endless Seven-Day Journey-, could be offered as a game for younger people, due to its accessibility, simplicity and childlike charm in its beautiful visual proposal and innocent exploration and summer wandering. But it will be the adults who will launch into this bucolic and relaxed game, where dinosaurs roam freely through the streets of a small and charming town. Life simulator, or whatever you want to label it, we dedicate ourselves to hunting insects, fishing, helping people, making money, or enjoying its history and those of the people around it, it makes us feel part of the series or one of its the films of the character that has captivated so many of us. Although the way to do it has been through a game that will not always be suitable for everyone.

Shin-chan: My Summer with the Professor - The Neverending Week is a very casual and fun game, particularly if you are a fan of this universe and its characters. It has a few glitches and breaks in pace, but it maintains the acid humor that Shinnosuke and the rest of the characters have gotten us used to.

The most defining aspect of his game is the signature Boku no Natsuyasumi atmosphere. The Shin-chan elements take a back seat to support the lazy summer vacation ambiance, so don’t expect any elephant dances or jokes about Misae’s butt. If anything, the Shin-chan connection holds this back from being all it can be, so it ends up pleasing nobody.

Shin-Chan: Me and the Professor on Summer Vacation - The Endless Seven-Day Journey may be a mouthful to say but the game is a charming little title that is one of the most relaxing times a player can seek. While it won't appeal to everyone with its slow meandering gameplay, those who want to feel like a child on a holiday will find a memorable experience. A great, child and family friendly, experience.
