Like the three protagonists it features, New Tales From the Borderlands is a hot mess. If you don't take the game too seriously, there's a fun, heartfelt adventure buried somewhere beneath the layers of erratic writing and misplaced humor. It's an oddball romp with a bumbling cast of characters who deserve more substance than they were given. If the original Tales From the Borderlands is ice cream, New Tales From the Borderlands is frozen yogurt. And at the end of the day, even Fran admits that frozen yogurt just isn’t as good.

New Tales from the Borderlands has stellar voice acting and a solid script, but stumbles with pacing.

Creating a sequel to one of Telltale’s best games isn’t easy, but New Tales from the Borderlands gave it a red hot go. It’s characters are reminiscent of the original, while also being funny and likeable in their own unique way. The story is no slouch either, even though it does drop off in the latter half. Still, if you are a big fan of interactive movies and QTEs, then this new tale is certainly worth experiencing.

We can scarcely recall an occasion where we were more disappointed by a sequel than New Tales from the Borderlands. We wanted to love this. We'd have accepted liking it. But we hate this game. This is a ten-hour narrative adventure that feels four times as long as it needs to be, with dreadful characters, and appalling, relentlessly unfunny jokes. It's a spectacular misfire, its only success to speak of being the rare example of a sequel so bad that it ruins the original, too.

This is the best the franchise has looked from a purely cinematic level. In the end, New Tales From The Borderlands succeeds because it lives up to its namesake and presents the best Borderlands storytelling since the original Tales.

I must say that I have massively enjoyed New Tales from the Borderlands. The comedic dialogues, graphics, interactions, and of course storyline, are each fantastic! It will certainly capture not only the hearts of Borderlands fans around the world, but also appeal to new players far and wide.

New Tales from the Borderlands is ultimately the worthy continuation of a dream pursued a few years ago. As well as being further proof of maturity on the part of Gearbox Software, it is a demonstration of how important it is to build a good story on certain occasions. Net of a gameplay that doesn't innovate much, we are in front of a production that is a must for every fan and, who knows, even for those who can't do without the Borderlands universe.

New Tales from the Borderlands is a solid narrative adventure game, but it fails to live up to the standards set by the original. Even though it has great gameplay systems and presentation, the story's disjointed structure, lack of adequate character development, and spotty comedic writing left me feeling disappointed.

At about 10 hours, New Tales from the Borderlands is a solid successor to the first title under Telltale, and its story has all the right emotional beats. I cannot count the number of laughs the episodes drew from me, but towards the end, the game's uneven pacing was hard to ignore. Paired with its stale quick-time events, there is more New Tales from the Borderlands to improve on, but this sequel is a step in the right direction.

New Tales from the Borderlands offers a satisfying experience within the Gearbox universe, with its characteristic sense of humor as its flag and main triumph. However, its lack of ambition and uninspired gameplay detract from the overall experience.

Apart from some nice insane gimmicks and a valuable graphic-artistic sector, New Tales from the Borderlands is far from the levels of its predecessor.

New Tales from the Borderlands opens up another vibrant, extremely fun and mad exploration of the Borderland's universe, with a second round of episodes even better than the first.

In resume, you don't need to know everything about the Borderlands franchise to enjoy this installment, since it remains an independent plot from what is seen in the main games. And for those who are already familiar, it is clear that they will enjoy it more because of all the winks and references that they will find along the way.

Much like my time helping the original cast of “Tales from the Borderlands” find their meaning in life, I enjoyed the experience of helping Anu, Octavio and Fran change the world.

Simultaneously both full of heart and unapologetically in-your-face, it takes everything you loved about its predecessor whilst gently – almost invisibly – buffing the things you didn't like so much, too. What a treat.
