With cameos from well-known, returning characters and that distinctive art style, New Tales from the Borderlands is definitely worth playing, especially for Borderlands fans.

It is far closer to a traditional Telltale game than a game from the mainline Borderlands franchise but does provide a mostly great story and characters to enjoy across it’s 10-12 hour experience. It didn’t quite stick the landing for me but I did appreciate how much the new cast was able to develop over the course of the game and how much better the performance was compared to the previous Telltale entry in the Tales From the Borderlands series. If you’re an existing fan of the Borderlands series, you’re likely going to have a pretty good time with New Tales From The Borderlands.

New Tales from the Borderlands can’t match the first game due to a less interesting story and cast of characters but it still was a fun time. I did really like a few characters that weren’t part of the core cast and the presentation and audio work is excellent throughout. If you enjoy the Borderlands brand of humor and the universe you’ll likely enjoy this but it isn’t as memorable as the first game.
Folks who enjoy lower-shelf humor will find much to enjoy here. Turn your brain off and you may find some fun to be had.
There's a lot to love here for fans of the franchise and fans of the genre alike... provided you have room in your heart, and schedule, this time of the year.

New Tales from the Borderlands picks up exactly where the first game left off: An incredibly charming cast of protagonists, the dumb Borderlands humor with gags at every turn, and a completely stupid and therefore no less fun storyline. The game is bursting with charm and, especially from the point of view of every series fan, certainly gets an enormous sympathy bonus.

New Tales from the Borderlands is ultimately the worthy continuation of a dream pursued a few years ago. As well as being further proof of maturity on the part of Gearbox Software, it is a demonstration of how important it is to build a good story on certain occasions. Net of a gameplay that doesn't innovate much, we are in front of a production that is a must for every fan and, who knows, even for those who can't do without the Borderlands universe.

At about 10 hours, New Tales from the Borderlands is a solid successor to the first title under Telltale, and its story has all the right emotional beats. I cannot count the number of laughs the episodes drew from me, but towards the end, the game's uneven pacing was hard to ignore. Paired with its stale quick-time events, there is more New Tales from the Borderlands to improve on, but this sequel is a step in the right direction.
As a slower-paced story, it lacks the action and zaniness of its predecessor – but by opting for a quieter, more intimate tale, New Tales from the Borderlands carves out a deeply heartfelt, character-driven adventure that highlights the power and potential of friendship in a barren land.
New Tales from the Borderlands is a safe, risk-averse sequel that gets more right than wrong.
As stated in the opening, New Tales from the Borderlands doesn't top the amazement of the original game.
