The Winters' Expansion is a beautiful extension of what Village already has, offering plenty of new ways to have fun, whether that means making the base game easier or getting to punch everyone in the face as Chris Redfield. But the real tour de force here is Shadows of Rose, a storyline that offers a more psychological style of horror than the franchise usually plays in and is worth every penny.

When all is said and done, Resident Evil Village: Winters’ Expansion is DLC done right. The expansion manages to expand upon things and give me modes and features I didn’t even realize I wanted until I had it. Not to mention that the real star of the show, Shadows of Rose, is Resident Evil storytelling at its absolute best. While I may have a few gripes in the execution, I had such a fun, yet terrifying experience playing this game that I believe the DLC is well worth it for everyone, especially those who played the game a year and a half ago.

Shadow of Rose is not only one of the best expansion packs released during the entire series, but in many ways, it is a better title than the original Village. A title that focuses heavily on fear and survival and has succeeded well in achieving its goals. Although in terms of story, the audience is not provided with a new point, but in terms of gameplay, we are dealing with a very high-quality work that is faithful to the classic versions and RE7.

Shadow of Rose is a fantastic stint and offers closure for the Winters family. The Mercenaries is more fun than ever and the third-person perspective offers yet another incentive to play the main campaign. If you’re a fan of Resident Evil Village, the Winter’s Expansion is an essential addition and one that you should pick up now.

The expansion of the Winters is an interesting addition, although it pales in comparison to what Capcom did with Resident Evil 7. It includes much less content, less varied and surprising. And it's a shame, because Capcom had enough to take from to tell new stories or focus on other characters, starting with Lady Dimitrescu.

If Resident Evil Village is the beautiful conclusion of Ethan Winters' story, the Shadows of Rose DLC closes the show of the whole family brilliantly. Reconnecting with the fear and helplessness felt during the first hours of the license, this curtain drop on a journey started in 2017 suffers only a few flats not spoiling the experience. The adventures of the young Winters are engaging, even if sometimes a little cliché, and we almost come to regret the end of some areas as they have freaked out our little heart.

The story of Ethan Winters comes to an end. Resident Evil Village Shadows of Rose is the perfect epilogue to this game. The big expansion of the title manages to meet our expectations, although it is not without errors.

Successful horror with a refreshing protagonist and varied mechanics, but unfortunately without new areas.

Resident Evil Village: Winters' Expansion is an entertaining plot extension lasting about three hours and has some excellent scares in the middle while it fizzles out a bit in the climax. Despite not being pushed to its maximum potential, The Winters' Expansion is for those who want their teeth into more of Capcom's newest horror thriller.

Winter's family nightmare comes to an end in this first and last DLC for Resident Evil Village, that delivers a new, short but intriguing story for Rose, the third person view option and a bunch of Mercenaries mode contents. Unmissable if you want to bite another chunk of meat from Capcom's latest horror.

As a package, the Winters' Expansion is a necessary addition to any Resident Evil fan. The added content for Mercenaries is just the temptation needed for new players to take on the mode's challenges (or a reward for those that already have), and Rose's story is a perfect conclusion to the Ethan Winters saga. Personally I can take or leave the third person mode, but it's a nice inclusion nonetheless. I'm certainly intrigued by the prospect of where the series will go next and would heartily recommend a return to the Village as a necessary destination whilst you wait for the Resident Evil 4 Remake.

What stole the show is Shadows of Rose. An emotional, heartbreaking story that doesn't let up and is one of the better DLC we have received for any Resident Evil title.

Shadows of Rose makes up for its short runtime by ensuring every minute of it is quality. With some incredibly inventive sequences, enjoyable puzzles, and the usual Resident Evil gameplay loop, Capcom sends the story of the Winters family out on a high.

Resident Evil Village: The Winters' Expansion is packed full of great content and definitely worth putting down the cash for. While Shadows of Rose feels cut a little short in terms of potential, it's still a great narrative-based DLC and a unique look at some familiar areas, while the third-person view and extra Mercenaries content is the icing on the cake.

The Winters' Expansion ties up some loose ends, and allows you to revisit the game 16 years later. It's a short but fun romp back into the village. The Mercenaries addition is also really fun. The third person view is a little much, but if you want to find out what happened at the end of Resident Evil Village, this will surely fulfill your desires. Is Rose the future of Resident Evil? I'm here for it.

Resident Evil Village: Gold Edition is a perfect package of improvements and additions to the main game that makes it well worth the purchase. The improvement of adding the third-person viewing option gives access to more people who will now be able to play the game for the first time while giving people who have already played Resident Evil Village: Gold Edition a reason to revisit the game. The addition of Shadows of Rose shows that the developers know they raised the bar with Resident Evil Village and wanted to top it with a more frightening and grounded atmosphere while keeping things as outlandish as they were in Resident Evil Village.

An enjoyable short experience mainly because it is based on an excellent foundation, but in itself doesn't offer anything new or exciting.
