The gameplay and elements that made the 1986 title overthrow Breakout's popularity in the block breaker genre were revamped and updated here. Arkanoid Eternal Battle brings the classic franchise to the 21st century, keeping it fun, enticing, challenging and adding welcome novelties to its visuals and game modes such as Versus and battle royale, which is [a] very popular [trend] in recent years. All of this in Brazilian Portuguese, with crossplay with various platforms. For all those reasons, Arkanoid continues to be the king of the genre.

ARKANOID - ETERNAL BATTLE is a superb modern adaptation of the iconic arcade game that will easily appeal to newcomers and long-time fans such as myself. I'm definitely looking forward to playing it against actual players instead of just the AI!

That niggle aside though, we’re pleasantly surprised with Arkanoid: Eternal Battle. There have been many versions of Arkanoid (and other Breakout clones) over the years, but this might be one of our favourites. The Battle Royale format really does work, and the end-game boss mode is an unexpected but welcome twist. We’ll certainly be jumping back in again and again to chase those high scores.

Arkanoid Eternal Battle mixes the classic brick-breaking formula with battle royale and turns out to be a pretty fun time. Trying to outlast 24 other players and take down a boss at the end is exhilarating and will have me jumping back in from time to time for more.

Arkanoid - Eternal Battle is a pleasant surprise that combines classic gameplay with battle royale elements. It will probably become your favorite version of Arkanoid, it's just a shame that you won't be able to enjoy its main mode with many players.

It seemed to me as interesting as it was perhaps difficult to resurrect the Arkanoid franchise in the right way for our days. I can say that it has been achieved very satisfactorily, as I am a person who remembers the original Arkanoid from 1986 with a smile and many nerves and tensions. One of the things I've reconciled with the Taito franchise is its excellent Battle Royale aspect, which makes Eternal Battle mode matches extremely fun and fast-paced, whether or not there are human players to fight against. Even the Versus mode has been fun for me, in this game the fight against other capsules I think is the soul of it. But a Neo mode and another Retro mode -simulating an arcade cabinet from 1986- accompany for those who still want to pass the time fighting each phase and trying to reach the elusive and omnipresent Doh. A very interesting game both for long periods of time and for sporadic games without further worries.

The marriage of Arkanoid with the Battle Royale concept is a welcome one and equally warmly received is the inclusion of the classic Arkanoid for older gamers or those who are inquisitive enough to reach back far into those halcyon days of arcade gaming. However, a distinct lack of modes and a seemingly lukewarm player base effectively cut the legs out from under Arkanoid: Eternal Battle's titular and marquee mode.

It is now a constant, with Arkanoid Eternal Battle, Pastagames offers a very nice reinvention of a great video game classic. Those who in their younger years broke bricks so that the little ship Vaus could carry out its mission will find their 1986 game as if they were in a game center, in addition to a Neo mode that brings enough novelties and good ideas to boost interest. Finally, the Battle Royale, a great novelty here, fits perfectly to Taito's cult title, especially when the whole is supported by visuals and electro-futuristic music of the best effect.

Arkanoid Eternal Battle is a little gem that will delight retro game lovers. Besides, it tries to open up to a wider audience with a fun Battle Royale. Mind you, the game has almost no player traffic.

The revered arcade brick breaker is here, and with some interesting new modes to boot, but one big problem…

A decent reintepretation of an arcade classic that shines for the single-player Neo mode. Multiplayer options seem tacky and are not very convincing.

Arkanoid Eternal Battle is an approachable game that delivers some timeless fun. But much like Bubble Bobble 4 Friends, it's another Taito arcade classic that's taken one step forward, two steps back. It brings less content to the table while asking for more money from the players. With online being something of a ghost town, I suggest waiting for a price reduction.

Arkanoid: Eternal Battle is a fun take on a dated and immovable gameplay loop, that suffers from the fact it will only be fully enjoyed if more people buy it and play its excellent battle royale mode. Even though it has other modes to satiate your brick breaking needs in case you’re a solo player, be it with the inclusion of the old arcade game or bots, it’s just not the same without the sheer chaos provided by lots of players going nuts at once.

Akanoid is a legend that never dies, but its take on the battle royale formula is plagued by some inconsistencies that make the game not as compelling as it could have been.

Outside of the online – which adopts a seasonal format and sees you unlocking new cosmetics as you work through the ranks – there’s a modernised version of single player Arkanoid which includes new power-ups and a combo system, as well as the 1986 original, both with online leaderboards. There’s also a rounds-based versus mode for four-person local multiplayer play. As a whole, the package is well executed, but with an asking price of £24.99/$29.99, it feels a little too light overall to overcome the sticker shock.

Arkanoid: Eternal Battle is saved in the corner thanks to a series of accessory modes that, between classicism and modernity, know how to pay tribute in a dignified way to a work that has made the history of the medium.

What feels like the foundation for something ideally more substantial lying in wait, Arkanoid – Eternal Battle can only muster up a competent, but unimaginative, spin on the Taito classic in Battle Royale form.

Arkanoid - Eternal Battle is designed for a specific audience, however, it is one that might struggle to find a home on consoles. It looks fine, sounds good, and plays well enough what it is, but there is very little reason to keep playing beyond a passing fancy. Unfortunately, Arkanoid - Eternal Battle cannot rightfully be recommended at its current price point.

I can only recommend this if you are already a fan or like fast paced puzzle games in general. Nothing bad or horrible with this release, but also nothing groundbreaking, Just an above average classic puzzle game with a great challenge. Pick it up if you want to experience the world of Arkanoid.
