SEASON: A letter to the future Reviews
Season: A letter to the future is an incredible achievement as it is a risky endeavor to ask a gamer to slow down and breathe in the world they have painstakingly created, but once you let go of your preconceived notions, it will uplift you with its profound narrative.
SEASON is a wonderful story about memory, history, and what we leave behind.
SEASON: A Letter to the Future is an unforgettable story about the power of memories—how joyful it can be to make them, and how painful it can be to lose them. It has rough edges. The story asks more than it answers, and the game feels too short for a journey of its magnitude, but these flaws only confirm what I already believe—that I wish there was more of this brilliant game. Whether you’re a lover of adventure games or simply looking to lose yourself on a mystical journey, SEASON has plenty it’s willing to show you.
Few games hold the distinction of both making you want to delve further into their world, while also compelling you to step outside into our own. With Season, you can get lost in the animators' artistic work for myriad hours, but the overwhelming experience of this game will inspire you to savor our world, too.
An immersive scrapbooking journey to record the ending of a season and the dawning of the next one.
I can’t say enough how much I adore this game. It’s warm, it’s weird, it’s beautiful, it’s lonely, it’s full of emotion, connection, and what change is for us all as humans. In the same way, we crave change while we are afraid of it, Season: A Letter to the Future will be both a warm hug and some cold reality, a home and a strange land, and a joy as well as a heartache.
If we're tallying up Season's problems, again, by far the biggest is that it's a shallow game that desperately wants you to think it's deeper than it is. It has some pretty visuals and solid voice acting, but at the end of the day, there's really not much more here than trying to give historical import to snapping that perfect Instagram moment.
Season is a game with a great many messages hidden throughout a simple yet impactful story. For me, it is a story about grief, memories, hope and connections. It’s a reminder to appreciate the little things this world has to offer, and how fragile they really are. It’s about the bonds we form with people – from strangers to family. It’s about how the future is uncertain and yet thrilling and exciting and out there waiting.
Very beautiful and relaxing in terms of presentation, but it lacks personality in its execution. However, although SEASON can be too ambiguous in its message, the game oozes a most evocative genre and magical realism.

Describing SEASON: A Letter to the Future to a colleague, their reply was, “sounds boring”, and that is totally fair. In description, it does sound boring, but it is so in the same way that a puzzle is boring. Watching someone hunt for pieces and slowly make progress can be boring, but not nearly so for the person putting it together. Looking for a piece where there may or may not be one, discovering that one you need, figuring out how the picture forms, building snapshots of key areas that later become this bigger world. That is Season‘s sweet spot. That’s its letter to the future.
Season: A Letter to the Future is a game that is difficult to rate. It is a game that will definitely go too slow for some people, while other people really lick their fingers at this. When you make the decision, it is perhaps best to ask yourself whether you are waiting for a game where you can completely leave the pace and hectic for a while and immerse yourself in peace. If that's something that sounds good to you and you don't mind that this game isn't particularly long, then Season is definitely a great game for you.

I feel like calling SEASON "the Death Stranding of indie games". SEASON is a very meaningful game where you can deeply feel that loneliness, music, sounds and the feeling of "keeping memories alive".

SEASON: A Letter to the Future is a gentle, meditative journey through a changing world. On board a bicycle, we are invited to record stories and places through photos, audio recordings and notes, which are compiled in a customizable diary. In addition, biking at random is a pleasant activity, mainly because of the beautiful locations and the open progression. Memories, melancholy and changes are some of the themes explored in the course of the plot, which is soft and bittersweet. Much of the world building is done indirectly, which encourages us to explore to get to know it better, but an abrupt end and underdeveloped elements hinder the experience a little. In the end, it's worth getting lost in SEASON's immersive universe.

Season's artstyle and gameplay are unique and fun, but because of its forgettable narrative and generic premise, it feels like yet another game that exists solely to win awards from Geoff Keighley.
Contemplative and profound, SEASON: A letter to the future is a work of art that invites you to discover and record an era that will soon vanish in transition to an unknown world. Traversing the open world with your camera and notebook should appeal to those who want a beautiful, immersive experience of aesthetic creation and philosophical storytelling.

A gorgeous world is denied a chance to tell its own tale.
I disliked Season’s belief in its own profundity. Its mysticism felt like cod-Buddhist leftovers, while its nonchalant efficacy of prayer undermined its attempts at agnostic universalism, all crushed under the weight of the sheer banality of all your actions being delivered as if creating a vital tome of historical significance.
Season: A Letter to the Future offers a beautiful and emotional journey of discovery as you witness a world that’s about to be reborn. There’s plenty to see, learn, and do along the way, with it hard not to feel a sense of emotional attachment to the world you’re leaving behind. It all makes for a deeply memorable experience though, and one that players can shape in their own little ways. It's not perfect, but I certainly won’t be forgetting my time with Season: A Letter to the Future anytime soon.
A wonderful exploration of a world that is recognizable yet foreign. Fantastical ideas mix with the ordinary in a beautiful bacdrop. this melancholy act of remembrance might not play to action fans but it's a truly evocative exploration of loss and change.
