This re-release seems unnecessary at first glance, but the conclusion of Kratos' journey serves up a level of spectacle that remains impressive in 2015.

With no real major upgrades to what was already a great game when originally released, this would be a tough sell at full price. Thankfully, God of War III Remastered is only $40, and that price point is quite a bit easier to swallow. If you've never played a God of War game before, and you either don't have a PS3 or don't want to play the previous games, you won't really know what's going on as it picks up towards the end of the anthology, but the story plays a secondary role to the gory action anyway. This still remains the best entry in the series to date. Pick it up if you want to see Kratos at his greatest.

God of War III on the PS4 is the same exciting game that it always was--just a little prettier.

The simplicity of the plot, the solid combat, and the bizarre perspective shifts during boss gameplay make this feel like it's the "purest" God of War game to me. It's a tribute to how much the game does right to the point that I didn't remember a lot of this stuff when I started playing God of War III again, playing from start to finish in a single session (normally I space these things out).

God of War III is still an excellent game five years later. The Remastered version is the best way to play it, but, it's a somewhat underwhelming release because it is so similar to the PS3's Ultimate Edition. This is not a Definitive Edition technically, but more content and thus value would have been great to see included here.

God of War 3 Remastered's update is mostly visual, but the action reminds us why we love this bloody series.

God of War 3 Remastered feels like a game made explicitly for those that did not catch it the first time around.

Nevertheless, being half a decade old and still kicking plentiful quantities of arse, God of War III Remastered is definitely one of the recent double-dips that I feel confident to recommending, even to those who have already played it.

A solid title, not because of improvements made during the remastering process, but rather the strength of the original creation. Sure, it looks a little bit nicer, and the photo mode is a nice addition, but this is primarily the same game that it was five years ago.

God of War III is a title worth playing as you can see by the review score, but it's just hard to recommend one game for $40 when you can spend $20 and get five including GoW III.

God of War III has aged surprisingly gracefully. Although it's over five years old, somebody inexperienced with the series could easily mistake Remastered for an original PS4 game.

The core game is still amazing, though the lack of any notable changes or additions in this release disappoints

So, is God of War III: Remastered worth its forty bucks price-tag? Unless a good story is absolutely necessary for you to enjoy a game, the answer is inevitably and overwhelmingly "yes" if you don't own the PS3 version.

Some may wonder why it's so high-priced, or why certain aspects of the game weren't as polished as the rest of it. But God of War III Remastered shows that Sony Santa Monica is more than ready for PS4 development, and that means we're in for something cool whenever Kratos decides to cover new territory. In the meantime, give his god-pummeling journey a revisit.

God of War 3 Remastered on PS4 is all the fun you had with God of War 3 on PS3, but with slight improvements. With no backwards compatibility offered on the PS4, it's worth a pickup if you're a fan of the game looking to relive some pretty epic moments. For newcomers, regardless of story, you'll appreciate the graphical fidelity and fast-fluid combat God of War 3 offers.

While God of War 3: Remastered may scratch the nostalgia itch we all have for Kratos-related mayhem, it doesn't offer anything more than a good-looking trip down memory lane. If you have yet to play the original God of War 3, this would be a great opportunity to do so, but those who don't want to have their memories tarnished due to a lack of bonus material may want to steer clear of God of War 3: Remastered.

God of War III Remastered delivers exactly what it says: a prettier version of the same game you played five years ago. Those looking for the same experience will find it, and those looking for something new or a fresh take on the series won't get much out of this remaster.

If already bought the game, though, there's nothing new here – just the updated game and assembled DLC. Aside from the visual improvements, this is the same game it was on PlayStation 3, for better or worse.

God of War III Remastered feels like an empty shell of a great game. It is fantastic for those that never had a chance to experience it, but the price tag hurts the most. If it had included Ascension or any of the previous games it would definitely be more enticing, but as just one stand alone title, this is one remaster I feel needs a serious price drop before considering diving in.

The story sits right around 6-8 hours and most people won’t want to replay the game again. Without multiplayer the 40$ price tag is a bit steep for anyone who already has the game. Still if you are new to the Sony family the game is worth going through if you have the extra cash. The brutal boss kills alone keep this game a great.
