Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores is a pleasant surprise especially when it comes to the story, which sets up the plot well for the ending of the trilogy.

Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores is one of those expansions you want to play. The expansion tells a great story, an epilogue to the second installment. You'll grow to like the characters very quickly, but in the case of Seika, you'll notice that the relationship she builds with Aloy is very rushed, resulting in vague dialogues.

The Burning Shores DLC is an epilogue add-on that’s filled with rich content that felt complete, as opposed to, say, a jumble of leftover parts. Though it only adds just a little more context to the base game’s conclusion, it’s still worth taking the ride if you want more of Horizon Forbidden West.

Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores is not just an incredible DLC, but it’s an absolutely crucial part of the entire Horizon story.

At a not too high price, Burning Shores is mainly aimed at players who want to return to Aloy's universe after a year-long break. The additions made by the developers alone are not worth the investment, but the storyline and the complicity between Seyka and our heroine allow Burning Shores to be an interesting addition for fans of the series.

With Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores, players can expect more of an extension to the story than a full expansion, but it still offers Aloy a chance to showcase her role as a key protagonist.

Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores may be more Horizon, but if that’s what you’re looking for, then you’ll be very happy with this new content. With an excellent story, interesting new characters, awesome new weapons, and enemies, as well as some of the most exciting sequences in the entire game, Burning Shores makes Forbidden West an even stronger experience than it already was.

Burning Shores feels more like a side story than an epilogue, but it’s still a fun adventure with a wonderful new ally and some memorable moments.

Burning Shores is every bit the continuation of Horizon Forbidden West. It builds on the great gameplay of the base game with a few new wrinkles, introduces a watery world and the ability to dive into it, and moves the story downfield a few yards as Aloy and her allies, old and new, prepare for what comes next. You won't be lost having missed out on this DLC when the next full game does arrive, but you would have missed an opportunity for hours of fun in an excellent world that is worth the time of any Horizon fan.

Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores runs really well on PS5 and presents an exceptional bossfight. There are some issues with gameplay and technical aspects though.

Burning Shores is an excellent expansion; one that builds on the foundations laid by Forbidden West with a heavy focus on story that anchors its, gameplay, and world-building. It may falter at points, but is still a must-play piece of the Horizon story.‍

It would have been easy to dismiss Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores as just another DLC that doesn’t do much, but on the contrary, this is one new chapter that fans will sink their teeth into and come out the other end satisfied and excited for Aloy’s next adventure. From further refining a gorgeous world, expanding the character development, to adding even more spice to the established combat formula, the experience comes to possess additional depth and flavour that should not be missed, even if certain impactful moments don’t exactly hit the mark.

Building further upon the foundations of Horizon: Forbidden West, Burning Shores is a rather fun expansion. With a new beautiful area to explore, new machines to beat and some epic setpieces, Guerilla delivers a true ending to the second installment in the Horizon series. One that makes the wait for the unevitable third game even harder than it already was. A must play for every Horizon fan out there.

Horizon Forbidden West Burning Shores is a very solid DLC that continues the journey of Aloy and this new partner Seyka. Besides some underused things, it stills an exhilarating experience with a jaw-dropping sequence and stunning visuals. A perfect technical and artistic showcase for PS5.
