Tin Hearts is a great game that puzzle fans are sure to fall in love with thanks to the easy-to-understand but hard-to-master gameplay. While it may be slow, it often picks up when you least expect it to provide an expanded world. Rogue Son clearly put its heart into this title, with countless moments feeling like they were pulled from a fairy tale.

Though there are flashes of fun in Tin Hearts, it ultimately fails to follow through on its promises to supply intriguing puzzles at the same time as telling an intimate story. Of course, there is still the VR version of the game to come, and while there will presumably be some positive changes, especially when it comes to camera angles and the slowness of movement, it's also hard to expect that Tin Hearts may become the next VR must-play.

Tin Hearts is a wonderfully crafted puzzler that’s unique, clever, and tells a heart-warming story to go along with its cute toy soldier escapade. It mixes together a variety of puzzling mechanics in a creative and whimsical way, whilst the way that everything ties into the use of toys always kept a smile on my face. And sure, the time manipulating mechanics mean that the stakes aren’t too high when leading your toy soldiers on their way, but they don’t stop the game from feeling super rewarding when you finally solve each tricky conundrum.

Whether you're playing it for its puzzle or story, both elements shine when it comes to Rogue Sun’s latest entry, Tin Hearts.

Tin Hearts manages to hit the puzzle game sweet spot, offering just the right amount of challenge. Its excellent puzzles, backed by great ambience, make it worth struggling with the less-than-optimal controls, and help you to ignore the 2010s-era character models.

Tin Hearts is a joyful puzzler with heart and style. It creates a soothing, engaging atmosphere with charming music, encourages discovery of your surroundings with mechanics that are gradually, smartly implemented and introduced. As a VR first title, playing in flat can be a bit jarring with controls and interactivity feeling a bit on the clunky side, but regardless of how or where you play, this is an adventure you should experience.

Chock full of cuteness and charm, Tin Hearts also unravels into a well thought out and crafted puzzler experience. There are means to make it easier, should you wish, but also the option of playing it without aid to challenge those that seek it.

For players willing to overlook these issues (along with a strange amount of shoddy textures), the pleasures of Tin Hearts are readily apparent. The soldiers themselves are charmingly designed, and the mechanical satisfaction of marching them toward a solution is appropriately gratifying. Care is also visible in the narrative, which features a number of predictable beats but proves surprisingly willing to deal with heavier emotions and thorny resolutions. Tin Hearts is a game that begs to be loved, but with a bit too much inconsistency across its respectable runtime, it might be best for it to settle on being liked.

Tin Hearts took me pleasantly by surprise. I simply loved guiding my tin soldiers through the different rooms of the house. I truly felt like a little child playing with his toys in his own house. The game's slight shortcomings cannot overshadow its great qualities, especially the level design. If you like puzzles and moving stories, and want to return to childhood, Tin Hearts is a must!

I fell in love with this game not long after starting out in the game when playing on my PS5. The simplistic introduction showcased that games needn’t always offer up a lot of exposition.

Tin Hearts is a Lemmings-style game with an emotional narrative about family and relationships, where players guide tin soldiers through cleverly designed levels, using mechanics like time control. Despite some technical issues and lack of VR support at launch, the game offers an engaging experience and potential replay value with the upcoming VR support.

But if you're a fan of Lemmings -- or even just a fan of heartfelt stories with nice visuals -- there's still plenty here you should be able to enjoy. Tin Hearts isn't going to make you rethink your opinion of the genre, but if you're already a fan, you'll have fun with this.

Tin Hearts is a good alternative for those new to the puzzle genre. However, due to its story and linear progression in the beginning, it won't be surprising to get bored quickly.

The magical and emotional story, along with the puzzles and the Christmas-themed designs, is something that any child will love. But as an adult, Tin Hearts can definitely make you feel like a kid again. But I’m not so keen on that. It looks like once you’ve started the story, you cannot start over the game until you’ve finished the entire campaign. This isn’t necessarily a problem worth stressing, but for a few reasons, you might want to start from the beginning, regardless of how far you progress.
