An intricate, playful Metroidvania set in the worst that League of Legends' universe has to offer, Convergence brings its dystopia to life by knitting weighty platforming together with excellent time-winding combat, and is only held back by its slightly cartoonish take on its source material.

[Convergence is] fast, frenetic, fun, well thought-out, and has slick controls. Apart from some screen positional & focal point issues (along with some default difficulty issues), everything else about publisher Riot Forge's first foray into segmented 2D platforming with time-bending mechanics is golden.

It’s hard to think of anything negative to say about CONVERGENCE. The game was clearly made with a lot of love, which shows both in the way the game plays and the portrayal of the world it’s in. CONVERGENCE: A League of Legends Story shines as the gold standard of what a platforming title should be.

"Be kind rewind!" is the core experience of CONVERGENCE: A League of Legends Story. Mastering Ekko's time-based combat and platforming skills becomes incredibly rewarding for those wanting a new metroidvania experience. For Ekko mains, CONVERGENCE should be a no-brainer as it faithfully implements Ekko's power in inventive and satisfying fashions. For other League fans as well as those unfamiliar with Riot Games' other titles, CONVERGENCE will offer you memorability, challenge, a thoughtful story, and another blissful audio experience Riot (and Riot Forge) are known for.

All those lovers of a good metroidvania should play Convergence: A League of Legend Story. The game has careful visuals and a story that, although it doesn't engage you from the beginning, will gradually gain importance and interest. If you are a lover of LoL and the stories of the characters, you should not miss this title, as long as you like platform games.

CONVERGENCE: League of Legends Story stands out with its dynamism and agile pace. Ekko's journey through Zaun envelops us with its elaborate platforming stretches, exploration moments, and frantic combat. Time manipulation mechanics, like being able to rewind a few seconds of action and a slowdown bubble, bring identity to the game and have some interesting uses. Even with qualities, it lacked a bit of boldness: the elements of temporal alteration are explored in a very basic way, leaving the challenges a bit repetitive. Furthermore, the League of Legends universe is lazily adapted, with a predictable plot and underdeveloped characters. To make up for it, the setting is neat with beautiful visuals and great voice acting. In the end, CONVERGENCE is a competent, fast-paced platformer.

Convergence has a superb artstyle with a very engaging narrative, it just didn't do anything different to make this game stand out from the many metroidvanias in the market, but the thrilling story of Ekko and the polished rewind gameplay mechanics made this all worth it

Another League of Legends spin-off, another Action-RPG, but this time dominating the scene in this stylish Metroidvania is a fun mix of platforming and combat involving time manipulation. Well balanced, fun and fast-paced, even if you are not a fan of LOL you will probably love it.

But if you go in without the expectations of Arcane, Convergence is a great adventure. Ekko faces off against some great boss fights against champions like Camille, Warwick, and Jinx. These boss fights force you to play differently; Camille uses the high ground and hextech tools to control the battlefield, while Warwick is more of a raw force of nature that is best dodged and controlled. Seeing these champions outside of League is a reminder of the promise of Riot Forge games. As it turns out, many of these characters do best outside the confines of a competitive game. Convergence offers another chance for them to shine in their element.

Convergence is my favorite League of Legends side story thus far. Double Stallion did a fantastic job of taking a champions kit and realizing it in a totally different genre of game and made each ability shine. Ekko as a character has a sort of an infectious positivity about him and his willingness to aid a hand to help his city and those in need is something that we need more of in the real world. Full of cameos and easter eggs for League fans and having some genuinely fun boss fights against some champions from Runeterra there is a lot to love in Convergence for longtime LoL fans. Its solid gameplay, fantastic graphical style, and excellent metroidvania gameplay makes this game one that even those non-fans of the series will love.

CONVERGENCE: A League of Legends Story is a Metroidvania that fails to leave its unique identity and goes far from becoming an unmissable experience, but it would be wrong to say that the title is not quite pleasant for what it is. With an interesting cast of characters, a vibrant and different aesthetic and a series of moments in which the gameplay is quite creative and competent, it is not that difficult to recommend the title for someone looking for a new game of the genre for their collection. Performance issues on the Switch and a certain amount of thematic repetition during gameplay can get in the way, but they are not strong enough reasons to prevent most players from testing this adventure.

CONVERGENCE: A League of Legends Story is a title that doesn't try to be too daring either in its platform gameplay or in the story of a character as important in the League of Legends universe as Ekko. It's a game that brings a fun experience for a few hours and may please you a little more if you're a big fan of the franchise. Other than that, it's not memorable either for the genre or for the League of Legends universe.

The game plays very much like any other action-platformer in the vein of Castlevania or Metroid, but the time-manipulation gives the game that extra special charm, to set it apart and make it a new and interesting gameplay experience. While the game was enjoyable, some of the platforming was very tight and finicky/precise.
