Miasma Chronicles is truly like no other and is not comparable to anything else in its genre. The world is fleshed out and feels alive, and the gameplay, with its steep learning curve, offers variety and flexibility that’s not seen anywhere else. Miasma Chronicles is definitely worth your time, and you should definitely give the game a try.

If you’re looking for challenging strategy gameplay, an intensely rich story, and a world that’ll just keep you coming back for more, Miasma Chronicles is definitely the right pick. It’s incredibly difficult to put down because it’ll keep you wanting to know what happens next. Even the side-quests are interesting and reveal so much more as to what happened in the world around you.

The Bearded Ladies is experienced in the turn-based tactics genre and Miasma Chronicles shows it convincingly, with the studio trademark mix of stealth and tactic providing an engaging approach to most combat situations (sometimes the enemies will get the drop on you. Life isn't fair). A pity for a climax that is perhaps too sudden, and a plot that isn't as good as the atmosphere.

The Bearded Ladies return to give us another videogame pearl. After the success of Mutant Year Zero, the eyes of the public were once again focused on the team, which straightens the shot and churns out an experience that wants to confirm its indisputable skills.

It feels like the folks at The Bearded Ladies have taken everything they’ve learned from Mutant Year Zero and put it all in their new game. Miasma Chronicles is a much better designed tactical adventure with a more appealing story. Despite the tongue and cheek writing, the game is more serious than Mutant Year Zero.

Miasma Chronicles shows the mastery that the Swedish studio has been acquiring in the genre over the years, offering us a game that meets the mark in everything it offers. It does not delve too deeply into its mix of genres, offering a good balance and standing out in its tactical aspect. If you enjoyed his Mutant Year Zero, you can't miss Miasma Chronicles.

Miasma Chronicles, as the title of this review indicates, is strategic enough. And I say this with the highest esteem. An interesting visual experience, where the main characters are well characterized in a pleasant narrative. Perhaps it fails in using its surroundings to increase the experience, something that I believe that fans of the style would certainly appreciate. However, with all the good things it brings, it doesn't minimize the experience in the least. It will certainly leave a significant impression on the player.

I had a lot of fun playing Miasma Chronicles. It was top on my wishlist since the moment I saw it announced. I thoroughly enjoyed their first game Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden. I am happy to report that I enjoyed this game even more. The unforgiving combat was, of course, my favorite part of the game. Being that I am a turn-based lover. However, the story was also just as good. All of the characters were memorable and enjoyable. The story was exciting and kept me interested the whole way through. I couldn’t wait to see what happened next. I think one of the biggest things for me was the environment. The game just felt so alive. Everywhere I went, people or monsters were carrying on a conversation. The Miasma was always twirling and twisting. Threatening anything and everything around it. The interactions with the characters and the environment felt so real and genuine. I won’t be surprised if Miasma Chronicles continues to hold one of my top spots at the end of the year. I thoroughly enjoyed everything about the game. If you loved the developer’s first game, you will love this one even more. If you are into turn-based games, which is probably why you are here, then stop waiting and go get this game. You aren’t going to regret it.

Miasma Chronicles take the ideas introduced in Mutant Year Zero and polishes them to a shine. What results is a beautiful (though trope-ish) and lore-filled post-apocalyptic adventure with plenty of challenging handcrafted combat scenarios that will surely give master tacticians a run for their money. It goes without saying that if you liked its predecessor, you’ll surely love this one. There are improvements to be made in the performance and bug department to be sure. But, all in due course, I suppose. The ladies with beards have struck gold once again.

Miasma Chronicles is an excellent hybrid between an action-GDR and a turn-based strategy, which takes what we saw in Mutant Year Zero and Corruption 2029 and makes it even better. It is precisely in the very close connection with the two previous works of The Bearded Ladies, however, that lies the main question mark of the work, which could certainly have dared more, but otherwise we are looking at a great game. If you love the genre, trust us and absolutely do not let Miasma Chronicles pass you by.

Miasma Chronicles is a fascinating experience that aims for a narrow target and hits it, for the most part. Making a serious, tactical RPG a vehicle for compelling storytelling is a tough proposition because the broad appeal of the latter is often at odds with the brutal vibes of the former. But with its tailored difficulty options, stealth options outside of combat, and, of course, the solid weight of the storytelling itself, Miasma Chronicles succeeds in its mission.

In the post-apocalyptic world of Miasma Chronicles, players embark on a gripping journey with Elvis, a young man possessing a unique glove that can control the devastating Miasma. Developed by The Bearded Ladies, known for Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden, this turn-based tactical game offers a captivating story and memorable characters, though it follows a mostly linear narrative. While the exploration aspect may feel repetitive, the game truly shines in its intense combat, featuring Elvis's glove and strategic elements inspired by games like X-COM. With customization options, evolving characters, and no need for grinding, Miasma Chronicles delivers an accessible and engaging experience for players seeking a balance of gameplay and narrative.

Miasma Chronicles is not light years away from Mutant Year Zero in either setting or gameplay. It is, however, a more refined and self-assured game, with an even better narrative and characters. The world-building and story are worth the price of admission, backed up by solid and creative tactical combat mechanics.

Miasma Chronicles isn’t far removed from the studios previous outing with Mutant Year Zero in neither setting or gameplay. That doesn’t mean however that it’s a bad game at all, Miasma feels more polished and nuanced than its predecessor which speaks volumes of the talent at the studio. However, for me the narrative wasn’t as strong as the world itself which wasn’t helped by the feeling of an abrupt ending to the whole affair. But Miasma Chronicles remains a good time due to the mix of tactical strategy and stealth gameplay.

Despite its sometimes-awkward writing, Miasma Chronicles manages to tell an interesting story full of twists and turns in a world that's incredibly interesting and well thought out. And while its aspects of exploration are lacking, the game still manages to be a fun time thanks to in-game special abilities and the fun world-building that goes alongside making the story a blast to play.

Miasma Chronicles is a novel take on tactical turn-based gameplay. Some ideas are not fully realized to their fullest; like the ambushes or the adventure mode. The core gameplay is one of the better examples of its genre. It manages to impress thanks to its incredible visuals and likable cast of offbeat characters and strange world.

If you liked Mutant Year Zero, you'll definitely enjoy Miasma Chronicles even more. If you like classic isometric Fallout games, you'll probably like Miasma too. The developers took a big leap forward and improved most of what was the weakness of their older game.
