Mask of the Rose Reviews
Mask of the Rose is an incredibly ambitious dating sim - for better and worse, as its complexity is its greatest constraint.
Mask of the Rose is a visual novel with a plot that plays with an over-the-top supernatural situation in a well-developed context of a Victorian society. Trying to offer a lot of freedom to the player action but respecting a somewhat restrictive plot core, the work has good and bad points to it but it's a good choice for those who love interactive narratives.

Mask of the Rose's writing and characters shine, but the game underneath them never fully gels together.
Mask of the Rose is a wickedly clever romance/mystery hybrid with an intriguing setting, a twisty story, unique mechanics, and an open approach that is accepting of all genders and identities.
Mask of the Rose is a solid offering by Failbetter games, with a deep story, interesting characters, and a fun clothing system, but an unfortunately hard to grasp storytelling system. (Review Policy)
Mask Of The Rose is an anthology of eldritch mysteries in a deliciously gothic world, but Failbetter's philosophy of weaving your own tale feels at odds with its dating sim promises.
