Final Fantasy XV is the result of the designers being out of touch and being unable to make any sort of connection with the players. It has a really rough start and is a game with high highs and extremely low lows. It is both a technical achievement and a game design disaster. It is capable of really clever storytelling and character development, while also failing at the basics of telling a simple story. Final Fantasy XV offers a huge amount of land to explore that feels ultimately small due to how few points of interest it actually has. More often than not, this hardly feels like an RPG at times, and yet because of how strange this game is, it might be worth a look. In the end, maybe Final Fantasy XV needed another 10 years of development considering how unfinished it feels.

Overall, Final Fantasy XV is definitely a memorable tale told with impressive production values.

Final Fantasy 15 is a wonderful title, and a hell of a lot of fun to have played. It's easily one of the best JRPG's I've ever seen, and I wanted so badly to give it a four out of five, but when I realized that I finished reading an entire novel waiting to get from place to place in the Regalia, I knew I couldn't. It's a fine game, and it deserves a chance, but I hope everyone has a bit more patience than I do.

FFXV's ambition is laudable, but it's flaws are too big to fully cast aside. The result is an interesting and spectacular-looking title likely hampered by a protracted and unfocussed development.

Final Fantasy fans should play this game immediately. It's not perfect, but it has many of the franchise's traditional strengths. If you're new to the series, you may want to try the classics first, or wait for a sale.

Final Fantasy XV wants to be many things together and finally can not shine in any of them. It is not a occidental RPG, and has abandoned the most marked elements of the genre. Now is a good Japanese ARPG. Even so, it's a lot of fun.

Final Fantasy XV is a game of lost opportunities which, once again, proves that Square Enix had to change something a long time ago. Neither of the project elements, except the music, is completely processed, and the game is released raw and incomplete, what is particularly seen after the ninth chapter. If you are ready to stop your progress at the tenth episode, suffering monotonous tasks in a beautiful open world and if you like a simplified clone of Monster Hunter then you can add one score to the total. But if you go further then there are all the chances to be disappointed. Unfortunately, the further we went the more we learnt about all the rawness and incompleteness of Final Fantasy XV. It becomes even more disappointing after watching gorgeous trailers of Final Fantasy Versus XIII. It's too bad we certailny won't see that game ever.

Enthralling and slick, but problems lie beneath

The glimpses of brilliance all stay in the early parts of the game, with the latter portions of the main story being incredibly weak, and shows signs that even after years of development, that Final Fantasy XV still wasn't quite finished.

Destined to be as divisive as all modern Final Fantasy games, but it's the story and characters that disappoint more than the capable combat and exploration.

Final Fantasy XV is a very disappointing game. The story is poorly written and the characters are average. This game should have been much better.

"The story and writing really let Final Fantasy XV down. Even the least favorite entries of the series have a coherent narrative albeit some unlikable ones. Characters are either here for no reason or haven't been developed in any way and certain actions/lack of knowledge between our main heroes really deprive this experience. I'm just glad the gameplay, combat, and interesting open world to explore redeemed Final Fantasy XV from obscurity. I take no pleasure in feeling this way about the highly anticipated title and I literally fell into a small depression after I beat the story. There are good ideas to like here but none of it comes together better than a high school literature project. If gameplay and exploration isn't enough to sate you (ala No Man's Sky) then this title may well be one to avoid."

Final Fantasy XV is an ok game for the most part. My biggest complaints are with the lackluster story, the lack of that "Final Fantasy" feel thanks to the modernized world, and the occasional technical issues. Is it truly a Final Fantasy game for fans and first timers? I don't think so. All the changes they made to the standard Final Fantasy formula don't necessarily sit well with previous games. Would I still recommend FFXV? If you're a true JRPG fan looking for a change, absolutely.

Final Fantasy XV exhibits some fun action combat and a few examples of good level design. However, it's lacking in its other RPG elements, especially the pacing of the plot.

Ultimately my time with Final Fantasy XV was spent chasing the very few highs I found among a lot of mediocrity and poor design choices. Realistically, nobody ever enjoys filling their petrol tank, ever. And it’s this obvious lack of thought in design choice that rings true with large sections of Final Fantasy XV, I just failed to see the point in it all.

Final Fantasy XV is a flawed experiment that still has its charms. Though it's a shame to see a series that was once on the forefront of storytelling in RPGs completely lose the plot it absolutely nails the road trip feel and the relationships between the core cast of characters.

Final Fantasy XV is a last-ditch effort to keep one of the world's longest video game franchises chugging along. You can smell the fumes and hear troubling sounds with its bumpy story and out-of-place objectives on the road. The open world and gameplay also pose challenges to keeping you in for the ride, but after being behind the wheel for some time, there's something nostalgic and one-of-a-kind about this game that can't be shaken. It doesn't necessarily do anything new or different, but the manners in which it forges its own blend of ideas makes for novelties that gain your appreciation and surprise. Unexpectedly engrossing quests and combat scenarios, meticulous animation, grand characters, and a messy yet fascinating lore are some of those things. Notwithstanding rough patches, there's enough here to keep your interest fueled until you run on empty.

Final Fantasy XV was a game I truly enjoyed and is something I’d love to talk about with other gamers, but again, the only way I can recommend it is if you’re willing to invest the time in its non-video game lore.

Generally, Final Fantasy XV is a good game, But not for the fans of the series who waited so many years for it. The visuals are good and the game's universe is huge and beautiful, but the story is one of the worst in the series and the gameplay really suffers from lack of dept.

Final Fantasy XV wasn't a bad game, but after all that hype, and being a first time player, I was disappointed with what was offered. There's many features about the game that I can praise like the combat and dialogue, but there's those negatives that makes it a disappointing first experience. I feel this is going to be a game with very mixed opinions, and I'm sure there's many playing it early who think it's a great game, but for me personally, this was a good yet disappointing game.
