Does Princess Peach: Showtime! reach the level of, say, Super Mario Bros. Wonder? Probably not. But it’s certainly on par with any of the solo Luigi or Yoshi outings we’ve had. Here’s hoping that we don’t have to wait another two decades for Peach to get another starring role, because this one is well worth your time.

Princess Peach: Showtime! is a cute, colourful and creative adventure befitting of one of Nintendo's most iconic characters. It's incredible that Peach finally has a game series to call her own, and what a fantastic start it's off to. The transformations are awesome, but it's the varied and compelling gameplay that really steals the show.

Princess Peach: Showtime! doesn’t quite suffice as the leading lady performance our Mushroom Monarch deserves, but there’s no denying its infectious charm and cheerful sense of creativity. While Showtime! doesn’t match up to the escapades of her plumber pals, this spirited adventure - punctuated by heartwarming visuals, fun and varied stages, and a superb score - is worth a weekend of anyone’s time. Encore!

Princess Peach: Showtime! is an excellent game for someone new to the world of video games. Although the game is aimed primarily at a youth audience, I can also see how someone who plays very little will enjoy the experience (without naming Joanie directly!). The game has a nice proposition and enough variety, but a lifespan that doesn't explain the high price tag. But if you're an avid gamer with years of gaming under your belt, it's highly likely that the adventures of our princess won't be enough to keep your interest for very long.

The promise of Princess Peach: Showtime! was in the name: to deliver a "show". But unfortunately it's not bold enough to enchant us with its short campaign.

Princess Peach Showtime! only lasts around six hours and a couple more if you want to collect everything. It’s a breeze to get through and doesn’t offer much difficulty beyond collecting pesky gems, but it manages to give us a sampling of Peach’s potential as the star of future games.

Princess Peach: Showtime is a first step in the right direction from Nintendo in order to create a new, distinctive series among its major titles. It is true that there is still a long way to go for this to happen due to the game’s lack of general content compared to its price and its exaggerated simplicity in most of its stages. However, the game maintains the Nintendo touch in it’s s design Creativity , to be one of the nice experiences on the Switch

There’s charm, there’s cuteness, there’s a generous difficulty curve and there’s a plot that passes the Bechdel test. This is the right step forward for Peach into the spotlight, and I hope Showtime! is the first of many more adventures to come.

Polish issues notwithstanding, I had an amazing time with Princess Peach: Showtime, but it’s hard to recommend at the full price of $60. The levels are fun, Princess Peach’s transformations are amazing and I’ll be surprised if I don’t see a bunch of different kinds of Peach cosplay during convention season. Also, the game is much more enjoyable when you’re playing it with people watching–it’s one heck of a streaming game. But having loading issues that too frequently occur, taking you out of “the zone,” can lead to frustration and feeling like I didn’t get what I paid full price for.
