Tearaway Unfolded has found a new home on the PS4 and contains plenty of new ways to use the DualShock 4 for unique in-game interactions. It's still worth owning if you've played the Vita version too. Difficulty is nicely balanced for players of all abilities and there are lots of collectibles for completionists to find.

Fans of the original Vita version may not experience the same sense of wonder for the PS4 iteration, but Tearaway: Unfolded is still a delight for players of all ages.

There are no 'reused assets' here; everything is unique, and because of that, the game never feels repetitive and there's always something new waiting around the corner

Pacing issues and minor quibbles aside, I had a lovely time with Tearaway Unfolded. The variety in environments and platforming mechanics, the music, the puzzles, the gibberish speech, and the sheer exuberant fun of it all bring to mind classic platformers like Banjo-Kazooie, which is a serious compliment coming from me.

What Media Molecule does well with Tearaway Unfolded's gameplay is avoid the gimmicks. The world and the puzzles you encounter in Tearaway Unfolded are carefully constructed to highlight the DualShock 4's features. The result is fun, innovative gameplay, and an experience unlike anything I've had on PlayStation 4.

With some amazing stylised graphics, Tearaway Unfolded is a game that can be played by everyone and anyone that boasts a clever and interactive environment which draws the player into this fully interactive world. It's accompanied by an excellent musical score with some great sound effects to boot. So even if you have played the original game on the PS Vita, the experience on the PlayStation 4 is very different but is just as engaging in this very unique and entertaining arcade experience of 2015.

It's a fresh take on the same ideas that made Tearaway so good, and even if the different hardware means it doesn't capture that feeling of "holding a world in your hand" as well as the Vita game, Unfolded is still a must-play for anyone with a PS4, regardless of whether or not you've played the original.

Unfolded is playful, and despite its limited scope, its fumbles, and its twee preciousness, I can't help but smile while playing it. And we don't get enough games that play around with what the hardware they're on can do. Those simple interactions might be mere gimmicks. But if you have children who can revel in the magic of seeing the results of their creativity on-screen without having to delve into an editor for hours, or aren't afraid to get a bit precious yourself, Tearaway Unfolded is a story worth playing.

Surrounded by a weapons-grade aura of jubilation, Tearaway Unfolded rejects traditional applications of skepticism. Criticism just evaporates under tidal waves of color and personality, positive themes and excessive joy, and the heart-melting sentiment of its ending.

These small issues can easily be ignored when it comes to appreciating just how impressive of a project Tearaway Unfolded is. What could have been a simple cash-in HD port of the handheld title was instead lovingly (paper)crafted by the developers into a vastly improved, dedicated PS4 platformer.

One of the Vita's best releases come to the PlayStation 4 in Tearaway: Unfolded, a charming, endearing, and enjoyable adventure whose jump to the big screen will allow a far wider audience to appreciate a game that went criminally overlooked the first time around.

We didn't think it was possible, but Tearaway Unfolded has surpassed the original PS Vita version. It's story is longer, more expansive and the papercraft even more impressive. It manages to celebrate the PS4 and the DualShock 4 in its gameplay too, making the overall game package completely appealing and utterly adorable.
