LEGO Marvel's Avengers is what I expected it to be. It combined TT Games' ability to translate a popular film franchise into a fun and family-friendly experience while also adding some new tricks, such as the stud multiplier and combo attacks. And even though I was quite familiar with the source material, I still couldn't help but to pay close attention to its story as it was delivered in such a unique and fun package.

LEGO Marvel's Avengers provides a game that I will not be walking away from anytime soon, as there is still so much to discover and experience, even after the main campaign has been completed. It's a game any Marvel, LEGO or gaming fan will thoroughly enjoy, and I am still laughing at many of the excellent touches TT Games has put into this game.

Though TT Games has been delivering licensed Lego video game adventures for over a decade, Lego Marvel's Avengers feels as fun and fresh as it has in years.

LEGO Marvel's Avengers' ties to the cinematic universe make it less imaginative than its comic book predecessor, but excellent superhero gameplay makes up for it. This is one of the best LEGO games yet and a must-play for any Marvel fan.

Capitalizing on the incredibly popular Marvel Cinematic Universe, LEGO Marvel's Avengers is what you'd expect in a LEGO game, complete with tons of playable characters and a lot of replay value.

I'm not going to lie; it's incredibly overwhelming for a LEGO game to have this much to explore. LEGO Marvel's Avengers has its weird moments, but you can't deny there is plenty to do or that the gameplay is rather well polished. It doesn't even have those lovely glitches LEGO games infamously contain, and they have finally cleaned up the flying mechanics. Fans of the LEGO games and Marvel movies will enjoy it regardless of the minor issues.

While these issues can be frustrating, LEGO Marvel's Avengers is a solid addition to the LEGO universe as well as the Marvel one. Its more direct focus does nothing to water down the grand, and often times hilarious, experiences one comes to expect from the franchise. It may not add much that is new, but it is a prime example of why you shouldn't mess too much with a good thing.

LEGO Marvel's Avengers is easily one of TT's best attempts as both a LEGO title, and a licensed one. It's proof that TT understands both the LEGO properties and whatever licensed property they're tackling at any given time.

If you're a huge Marvel fan or a huge Lego fan – and especially if you're both – it's a no-brainer: get this game. You're going to love everything about it. I tend to fall on the casual side of the spectrum in my Marvel and Lego fandom, but I am a fan of great games. I'd say that for people like me, this is a really good game, but it's not as great as I hoped it'd be. I was absolutely delighted by the trademark TT Games humor and playfulness, and I absolutely intend to spend many hours in the game's free mode playing with my favorite superheroes and looking for Stan Lee in every single stage (he makes several priceless cameos). Several obtuse, tedious, or otherwise frustrating objectives and some level flow issues keep me from giving this an unreserved recommendation, but like the movies on which it's based, Lego Marvel's Avengers is a wild ride that many will come to cherish and want to revisit again and again.

A step down in terms of star power, but the humor and gameplay are entertaining

Great for kids and Marvel fans, but the LEGO video game formula is wearing really thin.

Anyone looking for a good family game to play with their kids should pick up LEGO Marvel's Avengers without delay. It's certainly cheaper than that other LEGO game that came out not too long ago, and with a playtime of 6-10 hours for just the story mode, and perhaps dozens more to obtain 100% completion, it's likely any kids you have will play this for months on end. The story is straight from the movies, and is enjoyable for kids of any age – indeed, fans of the Marvel universe will likely have fun here too. Some technical hiccups and the occasional unclear objective can hamper your progress, but these can all be overcome in a game that exudes a fun-loving attitude throughout.

If you like the LEGO game formula, you have a preference for playing solo and you're a huge fan of MCU, there's still a lot of value for you in LEGO Marvel's Avengers, even despite a disjointed plot and annoying audio mixes. If you haven't played any of the others and you're thinking about picking up this one, I'd advise starting with just about any other game instead. This the weakest LEGO game I've played thus far, and had me missing games like LEGO Marvel Super Heroes and LEGO Dimensions.

As a whole, LEGO Marvel's Avengers will entertain the young gamers in the household, while providing short spurts of entertainment to seasoned ones. Avengers may not be the best in the LEGO series, but it does fit firmly within the LEGO gaming family.

For a LEGO game, LEGO Marvel's Avengers is adequate but not complete. It has a lot going for it, but it's starting to feel like Call of Duty in the way that it's blurring with all the others in the franchise.

Playing through LEGO Marvel's Avengers may trigger the sense of déjà vu if you've experienced any past games in the series. There isn't anything new to see here, and the franchise really needs a serious revamp if it's going to continue.

Mostly more of the same, but better refined, LEGO Marvel's Avengers is great fan service and highly entertaining family fun. Easily the best regular LEGO title for a while.

LEGO Marvel's Avengers is a solid entry in the series with nice combat, charming humor and excellent production values. Content is also extensive, giving players plenty of stuff  to do. Admittedly, it doesn't add much to the LEGO formula and still suffers from wonky platforming and old glitches. Folks looking for a new experience won't get as much mileage but fans of the series and newcomers will enjoy it.
