WWE 2K24 is, as I mentioned above, the best-playing game in the series. The progress of the bell-to-bell of the series from undesirable to undeniable should make cover boy Cody Rhodes proud. Unfortunately, I had less fun with the game this year than last year, mostly I think because of fatigue with the flaws of the series. They have had years to correct the frustrating and often mind-boggling problems with AI wrestler behavior, clipping and collision detection, and reversal-heavy gameplay, and these issues continue to persist. The Showcase mode, a real highlight in last year’s game, has also taken a huge step back, which is a major disappointment. After taking this many years to finally get things right when it comes to the player-controlled action, it may be strange to hear me say that they need to think about some major overhauls of the franchise’s DNA, but I believe that may be what the series needs to feel fresh again. Just like a wrestling match the biggest sin a wrestling game can commit is to be boring, and for me that’s just what the WWE 2K series has become.

WWE2K24 is more of the same. The added matches are a nice addition, but there are some caveats made here. The visuals seem off-putting, and some of the single player modes are overkill. If you're looking to slam someone to the mat with a near current roster, grab this. But be wary - it may need a little bit more time in the ring.

WWE 2K24 is a huge win for the series. If you look past the technical issues, you can see a full packaged game. However, the premier mode WrestleMania may leave you unsatisfied with how empty it can be.

As so many of us continue to learn, nostalgia trips can turn eye-roll-inducing in a hurry. They run the risk of turning into a hackneyed compilation of things we know while sacrificing the overall quality of the end product. A cynical cash-in, as it were. WWE 2K24, it must be said, does not succumb to this particular pitfall.

WWE 2K24 does not reinvent the wheel, but expands both the pool of matches of the last chapter, and the possibilities of the combat system, which continues to work well despite some historical edges.

This is a new installment that still does not rest on the laurels achieved by the previous ones and continues to add details that make fans happy. Maybe if you are not a die-hard fan of the discipline and you have WWE 2K23 in your possession you do not want to immediately change for this new version given the subtle novelties, at least until it drops in price, but if, on the contrary, you are passionate about WWE, I would tell you not to hesitate and buy it right now, just the impressive roster it has, even without the DLCs already makes it worth the expense.

WWE 2K24 is clearly aiming at wrestling fans. They will not be disoriented level taken in hand by the arrival of new features in the execution of certain shots. Nor by the few technical flaws. The new games are way too much fun and the Showcase mode dedicated to Wrestlemania is really successful. But the graphic limits and a certain lack of variety in the content, are all defects are unfortunate. But WWE 2K24 succeeds in its mission : to entertain us.

WWE 2K24 is a fitting tribute to the legacy of the wrestlers that came before, the talented Superstars that now thrill millions worldwide, and the future of sports entertainment in videogames, even if there is still room for improvement in the presentation and some of its game modes.

Another installment of a satisfying yearly franchise fails to be beset by fatigue, but instead, the greed that tries to make everything else suffer alongside it.

WWE 2K24 is such a full, feature-complete wrestling game that it makes me thankful for the franchise capitulation from a few years ago. Without it, the digital squared circle likely wouldn't be what it is today, it certainly wouldn't have benefited from the three years of care, respect, and foundation we enjoy today. Instead, it'd remain a story unfinished.

WWE 2K24 is a fun game with some of the best graphics in a wrestling game ever made. However, the game is too bloated with game modes, many of which you are forced to play in order to unlock content you already paid for. 2K Games needs to stop nickel and dimeing players after the fact and refocus on giving players the best experience for their dollar.

WWE 2K24 builds upon the robust foundations of WWE 2K22 and 2K23 with another massively entertaining and accomplished wrestling game, and a wonderful 2K Showcase celebrating forty years of WrestleMania.

I don't think there will ever be a perfect wrestling video game, but if you had to ask me which wrestling game in the last 20 years has come close, WWE 2K24 would be at the top of my list.

WWE 2K24 continues to improve on the formula introduced two years ago, and the improvements presented overall in the package are more impactful than those presented between 2022 and 2023, making this title (at least until next year) Visual Concepts' best take on WWE wrestling.

While WWE 2K24's attempts at celebrating 40 years of WrestleMania with its new Showcase of the Immortals mode fall flat, the game's excellent match types and the great new storylines in the MyRise mode will ensure that fans will have plenty to sink their teeth into.

Another year another WWE 2K game going through the motions, although some of those motions are pleasing. For every good step this year's game has taken to add fan-pleasing features, it does so on unsteady feet like it's been stuck in Boston Crab for an entire week. 2K24 is attempting to tread waywardly onwards towards some kind of fully-featured salvation ensnared in a vivid vision of the ultimate WWE game, but doesn't have the ingredients to realize it. The new 2K Showcase of the Immortals mode is a delicious offering with many new matches to replicate, despite the ancient 2K Showcase formula showing its wrinkles and grey hairs related to its dreary Simon Says antics . The new match types are exciting and worthwhile inclusions despite some minor gripes pertaining to how they've been implemented. And then you've got a boatload of subtle additions and tweaks that show admirable improvements, yet are still far too small to make a tremendous impact. WWE 2K24 is a fine game and it is showing Rhodes towards the wrestling videogames promise land, but right now it's nowhere near the Head of the Table.

WWE 2K24 is better than its predecessor, bringing new types of fights, adjustments to game modes and new features that enrich the gameplay of the series, as well as a Showcase that sets a very high standard of quality to be followed by future games in the series.

WWE 2K24 is undoubtedly one of the best wrestling games in Xbox history, but it's also a game that prioritises incremental upgrades over any kind of major overhauls, so casual fans may struggle to justify a full-price purchase. As dedicated wrestling "marks" though, we think the new MyRise stories, superb improvements to MyGM, nostalgia-driven Showcase mode, additional match types and various gameplay adjustments are all worth the price of admission.
