After diving into Another Crab's Treasure, it's hard to understand why hasn't more been done to expand beyond the foundational souls-like element. There's clearly room for thinking outside the box, and Aggro Crab mostly nails it with this unique take. With colorful characters and an even more vibrant world, jump in for the feel-good vibes and partake in mostly satisfying underwater combat. Despite the occasional hiccups, this is still one shell of an adventure that works great for genre veterans and newcomers alike.

Another Crab's Treasure is REALLY GOOD - REVIEW video thumbnail

Another Crab's Treasure is a scrappy, succinct and soggy soulslike that doesn't just pay homage to FromSoft's pioneering efforts but stands out in its own right. There's no getting around the fact that it has serious issues of performance and polish that can really bring down the experience, but it's a game so packed with charm, so inspired, so unexpectedly cooked and with so many flashes of brilliance that I can genuinely say it's worth suffering through the pain points. I don't think I've been quite so enamoured with a game like this in a long time.

If you’ve been looking to take the plunge and play a Soulslike game but were afraid of the dying or “get good” nonsense, then Another Crab’s Treasure should be first on your list. The simplified systems, while still processing the same great Soulslike gameplay, and even the assist mode that lets you play at your own pace. Come on in, the water is fine!

The adventures of the hermit crab Kril mark an important episode not only for Aggro Crab, but for the soulslike genre as a whole – even if it suffers from a few stumbles along the way.

I enjoyed Another Crab's Treasure more than I thought I would thanks to its tight combat, sense of variety, and hilarious use of humour.

If you're intrigued by the idea of a crab scouring the ocean for makeshift armor while battling existential threats, then "Another Crab's Treasure" is definitely worth a dive.

Another Crab’s Treasure is a wonderful souls-like adventure that offers a unique and charming take on the genre with its creative shell-based action. There’s plenty of depth to be found in its mechanics that encourages player experimentation, whilst the boss encounters are some of the best that I’ve seen from a non-From Software release. It looks delightful too, whilst the accessibility options make it the perfect title to introduce players to the typically brutal nature of a souls-like release.

Overall, despite the few tweaks that could make Another Crab’s Treasure that much more enjoyable, it's a solid and innovative Soulslike option. Another Crab’s Treasure is a welcome addition to a genre that often doesn't feel the most accessible. The changes Kril will go through will have players reflecting on their own lives in a way they never expected, as one tiny hermit crab proves that sometimes it's worth evaluating the world around you and wondering, are you really okay with things as they are?

Although its combat leaves a bit to be desired, “Another Crab’s Treasure” world, characters and very funny storytelling and puns more than make up for it. It’s absolutely time for crab and you’re going to have a great time with it.

As a fan of the "Souls" series, you always want new titles in this area and even if, as already mentioned at the beginning, "Soulslikes" are now a dime a dozen, it is still hard to find a really good representative of this genre. "Another Crab's Treasure" has established itself on the good side of these games for me personally. Here and there there is still a bit of fine-tuning, especially in the area of performance, music and the sometimes somewhat questionable hitbox, but after the first entry hurdle the ambition and the well-known Souls addiction quickly returned. The colorful and cartoonish world offers a desirable change in the otherwise very dark genre of "Soulslike".

Another Crab's Treasure is an excellent souls-like game disguised as a cute game, although it still has room for optimization, the overall experience is unique. The interesting shell-switching mechanism runs throughout, and the solid combat is addictively engaging.

Despite some technical flaws on Nintendo Switch, Another Crab's Treasure is a fun and engaging soulslike, that feels like something fresh (and well-written story-wise!).

Another Crab's Treasure is a simple action game, but one that plays its cards intelligently, letting it go wild with some crazy and original ideas. It's not going to blow your mind with its approach and its technical flaws don't help either, but it's the nicest souslike you're going to play in your life.

Although far from the highest quality Soulslike, Another Crab’s Treasure is an original, intensely likable one. Its sharp script is backed up with a fun gameplay conceit, wrapped up in a package with a whole lot of character. We did the whole review without a shell pun either, so that's also a positive point!

While the Souls-like genre, epitomized by titles such as Dark Souls, Elden Ring, and Bloodborne, is renowned for its punishing difficulty and dark atmosphere, it’s not a style that resonates with everyone such as myself. However, Another Crab’s Treasure has managed to take the essence of what makes these games compelling—the intricate combat, the deep lore, and the rewarding sense of accomplishment—and transplant it into a world that’s both more inviting and less stressful. The game’s charming aesthetics, coupled with its environmental storytelling, create an experience that’s engaging without being overwhelming, for someone who typically shies away from the Souls-like genre.

Though the combat, which falls between serviceable and irritating, threatened my enjoyment, I still found delight in the currents of Another Crab's Treasure. Kril's reluctance to become a hero and his subsequent journey, messaging surrounding the dangers corporations pose to our oceans, and clever twists on the Soulslike formula deliver a satisfying, albeit uneven and flawed, wade through uncharted waters.
