If you’re an old school shooting fan who cut their teeth on the likes of Contra and Metal Slug, BroForce is the testosterone-juiced progeny of those titles and an action geek’s collection of old VHS tapes. Its intense and sometimes maddening action, insistence on positioning explosive barrels everywhere, reverent love and humor concerning action icons, gravel-voiced announcer, and screeching metal guitar riffs at the conclusion of every level absolutely feel like home for me. While it may be a little touchy with its controls and aggravating at times it’s still a whole lot of ridiculous fun!
Broforce is a fun 2D action platformer that pays homage to the classic action TV and movies we all know and love, all in a tight and entertaining package that will keep you coming back for more. Unlocking new characters as you rescue prisoners is a great mechanic that will keep you playing to see who else is going to pop up and join your crew.
While having some repetitive levels, Broforce is a high octane ride with plenty of unique boss battles, side quests, and unlockable characters. This high octane title is a perfect addition to the Switch with the brisk pacing of each area.
Broforce is a hilariously explosive 2D action-platformer with a memorable catch-'em-all cast of action movie caricatures. The action may be a little one-note, but when that note is as big and bold as it is here, you'll be all-too-willing to disengage your brain and engage your trigger finger. After playing through the seemingly unending series of critically-acclaimed, high-brow 2D action titles on Switch, this is the perfect way to unwind.
My time with Broforce followed an arc of first loving the concept, then being exhausted by it before coming back around and loving the blend of nonsense bro jokes and amusing gunplay and levels. This all works best with a bros playing locally, but even if you're playing solo (brolo?), Broforce is still a fun romp.
Whether you take the "Bro" elements for what they are, which is to say a daft gimmick to add an extra layer to a fun, challenging, carefully crafted love letter to the 80s, is up to you, but nothing about Broforce is serious bar the difficulty and dedication to the bit. If you're the type to roll their eyes at a bad pun while others around you snigger, you might still enjoy the shooting, but this is a full on mickey-take on the Team America generation that will be like nails on a chalkboard to some.
Broforce is a very well-made action comedy game at first, besides being a great homage to the classic movie heroes. It's so long and repetitive, though, that the player's happiness slowly fades away, leaving behind an expression of frustration and weariness.

If you grew up on 80s Saturday morning cartoons and action films, this is the game you've always wanted to play.
New school meets old school in the brand new adventure. Get ready to take on legions of enemies just for the heck of it.
The best game for guys who just want to shoot and blow stuff up in an 8-bit world
After finishing the too-long campaign, there's an Ironbro mode (where each Bro only has one life) and a level editor to tinker with. It seems robust, but I didn't spend much time with it. This all adds up to a decent amount of bro-time if you really want it, but I'm fairly certain whoever you play this with will end up being a not-bro for a little while. Broforce could have been a fun "Hoo-rah 'Murica" romp, but it comes with artificial difficulty and bugs that aren't worth dealing with. You're better off watching First Blood again and pretending Satan is going to show up at the end.
For anyone who hasn't had their fill of retro side-scrolling platformers, Broforce effortless and undeniable fun. Load-up, settle in, and invite a few bros.
The PS4 Version of this game isn't great. If you were to get Broforce I recommend you get in on the PC.
Broforce is everything awesome about action films amplified to a satirical degree that will leave you grinning non-stop. The tight run and gun gameplay never outstays its welcome with a steady stream of fresh bros, locales, and challenges. Fine-tuned visuals and audio serve to make its patriotic bent all the more entertaining, and even though performance issues knock the game down a peg for now, there's not much else that keeps this guilty pleasure of a game from resounding triumphantly like fireworks on the Fourth of July.
Broforce is an ode to gamers that were raised by action movies and 16-bit consoles. Broforce looks the part and plays the part of a run 'n' gun freedom simulator featuring Rambo, Indiana Jones, and Robocop parodies. The technical defects of the PS4 version, however, give the PC original the clear advantage.
Technical issues aside, Broforce is a delightfully chaotic love letter to the brightly-colored excesses of 80's action movie carnage and coin op shooters.

Broforce is quite literally a blast to play. It has the humour down, the exhilarating precise combat and level design, the enemy variation, and not to mention a plethora of content to get stuck into.
