The Smurfs: Dreams is a solid platformer with a tonne of variety and stuff to do. But I want to be very clear, I don't think this game is for the gamer who actually grew up on the Smurfs. It's for their children, who probably don't even know who the Smurfs are. So take that advice as you will when deciding on whether to take the plunge here or not.

Dreams confirms, once again, how much the real videogame dimension of The Smurfs is in platforming. The talented developers at Ocellus Studio produce a fun, colorful and idea-packed title suitable for both the very young and more seasoned gamers. The sources of inspiration are obvious, but instead of being lazily repurposed, they are instead paid homage to with creativity, sagacity, courage and expertise. A little fall 2024 surprise, as well as another great production dedicated to the little blue men born from the imagination of Belgian artist Peyo.

Visually the game looks good. It is very colorful, and the level themes are really well done. The performance is solid, and the music is whimsical and familiar. The isometric perspective can be an issue at times with planning jumps, but it works for the most part. Developer Ocellus has done a really great job at mimicking the best in the business when it comes to just about every facet of the game.
The Smurfs: Dreams is the latest title based on the Smurfs franchise that, to everyone's surprise, offers an unquestionable leap in quality. With quite solid gameplay and very successful level design and mechanics, it is perfect for all types of audiences, who will enjoy this outstanding adventure regardless of age. Very good for Ocellus Studio, which offers us what is possibly the best video game based on these little blue characters.

The Smurfs: Dreams is a Smurftacular 3D platformer, with tight controls, a lovely soundtrack, and so much variety in its levels.
The Smurfs: Dreams is well worth exploring with its creative and vibrant levels. Whether you play by yourself or with a friend, it’s worth jumping in. You could say it’s Smurfalicious.
The Smurfs – Dreams is a welcome throwback to classic 3D platformers and makes for a good snackable game if you've already played the likes of Astro Bot or the Mario games (or don't have the relevant consoles for them). It'll keep you well entertained for the 7 or 8 hours it lasts and there are plenty of hidden secret collectables to hunt out. Whether you have any nostalgia for the Smurfs or are new to them you could do a lot worse than to have a snooze with the blues.
The Smurfs: Dreams is a solid, Smurf-tastic game that surprised us during our testing. We expected a Super Mario clone, but it exceeded our expectations. It’s a solid, creative, and challenging platformer that impressed us with its truly beautiful level and sound design. The only drawbacks are the short playtime and the poorer image quality in handheld mode.

It may not be the best platformer of 2024, but The Smurfs: Dreams manages to stand out as an ideal proposal for all types of audiences, especially the youngest of the house, with a very enjoyable development, which hooks you from start to finish, and does not stretch unnecessarily.

It’s hardly a Game of the Year contender, but I’ve certainly played games that are much, much worse. It’s decent enough that I can say that if you’re in the mood for an above-average 3D platformer, it’ll certainly do the trick.
Gargamel seems to be a mighty sorcerer, though he has a low budget – the patches on his robe are telling. The Smurfs – Dreams also seems to have had a low budget, but the game, in turn, doesn't need any patches. It's beautiful and enjoyable – I simply recommend it.
The Smurfs - Dreams is a delightful platformer and a fantastic pickup for anyone who loves Mario 3D Land or 3D World. This is very much inspired by it on a surface level, but with more rhythm to its platforming action. It's a trickier game than one might expect given the license, which has usually been used in simpler, less-challenging games. It plays nicely across the board and doesn't have a lot of flaws in its gameplay beyond having a set formula that changes up based on the weapons you have access to in the stage itself and a soundtrack that's hit or miss.
Like its predecessors, The Smurfs: Dreams is a pleasant surprise. The gameplay takes the more recent platforming template and ensures it feels solid while also adding in a few twists to spice things up. There's a nice balance between being easy and having some challenge. The presentation complements this by being pleasing all around. Provided that the big traversal bug gets fixed, you're looking at a game that is well worth checking out - even for platforming fans that aren't even fans of The Smurfs.
