The real treat to this game is it's challenge mode, in which players will have to manage their guests happiness, customization, construction and employees all the while trying to stay within your budget.

Overall, this game is a complete pleasure to play. It's evocative of older generations of theme park management sims in all the right ways, whilst having plenty of style and appeal in its own right. It's a game that can be both a source of relaxation and a challenge, depending on the player's mood. Planet Coaster is also poised to offer some excellent longevity via integration with the Steam Workshop. The possibilities are endless, and this reviewer is definitely on-board for the ride.

Planet Coaster is a hymn to creativity. It is a simulative drug, with the flavor of the old Roller Coaster Tycoon and the beauty of a modern game engine. It's intuitive, satisfying, and allows the player to make very distinctive and unique parks.

It's not a perfect game, but in its own little way, it sort of is, and I'd expect no less from the team that brought us RCT2 and 3

Although Planet Coaster belongs to a niche genre, it is a well-crafted product that we hope will keep being polished. Despite imperfections that certainly affect the experience, its achievements and potential are worthy of admiration and it is a game worth playing.

Your opinion of Planet Coaster will be completely dependent on what you're seeking. As a management simulator, it hits the basics but doesn't introduce anything revolutionary. As a creation game, it shines because the design tools are powerful and the amount of structures that can be used is almost limitless thanks to a vibrant and active community. Ultimately, the game is fun once you get a grasp of the tools, and it's an excellent title to jumpstart a revival in theme park simulators.

The game looks stunning right down to the tiniest details on the props but there are some things wrong with the game.

At the end of the 90’s, Frontier released one of the best theme park titles of all time in Rollercoaster Tycoon, a game that felt like a natural successor to what Bullfrog had produced in 1994’s Theme Park. With many titles since Rollercoaster Tycoon failing to strike the right balance between creativity and theme park management, Frontier’s newest addition to the sim line-up is probably as close to a natural step forward for this genre of games as we’re likely to get. Planet Coaster is an accessible and creative title but also relatively basic when it comes to its management sim elements. Still, there’s an incredible amount of customization here that truly lets you go wild and create the theme park of your dreams.

Planet Coaster Console Edition is as comfortable in consoles as it was in PC. Everything remains intact, including the extensive management options and almost endless creative possibilities with roller coasters and buildings. It takes time and patience to get used to it, but if you like theme parks the effort will be worth it.

The best theme park sim of the modern era, even if a few underdeveloped elements mean it's not quite the ultimate roller coaster ride yet.

Planet Coaster feels like a step into more modern times for the genre. There are bugbears when it comes to the camera and the subsequent patience required to build your perfect theme park, but should one have the stamina to intricately design features for their park, the possibilities are nigh on endless. Managing can feel simplistic at times, but for those who want to have the amusement park of their dreams, even if they use mods from Steam Workshop to supplement their masterpiece, Planet Coaster has it in spades.

Planet Coaster isn't Rollercoaster Tycoon, nor is it Theme Park. This may put off those looking for a simpler, more nostalgic take on the genre, but it's nonetheless the most creative, technically intricate theme park sim to date.
