Undertale Reviews
A masterclass in storytelling with its memorable characters and soundtrack. Undertale is a phenomenal experience overall.
Compelling characters and music come together with an eclectic and clever combat system. Undertale is an intensely curated experience that's worthy of your attention.
If you think games are almost the same now, and the pleasure you get from games disappears day by day, you should know that your recipe is Undertale.

There's so much to love about it: the plot is involving and the characters a pleasure to get to know. It's at turns funny, haunting and gripping. You'll be sucked into its world and finish it wanting more – and you'll be rewarded for returning to the world.
I found myself smiling through a majority of my time with this game, unable to put it down until I'd beaten it. For only $10 USD (or your regional equivalent) on Steam, it's hard not to recommend at least giving it a try. For me, it might just be my game of the year.
Undertale remains an innovative and refreshing work, with a great depth hidden in its false simplicity that communicates very effectively through its gameplay. With his way of destroying the fourth wall, Undertale makes us the protagonist in a way that makes our hair stand up and makes our decisions truly have definitive consequences.

It asks you to be kind, even though it knows how hard that can be. It is aware that some wicked beings will never be receptive of your good intentions, and cautions you appropriately. It proposes that being good — while difficult — feels good.
So overall Undertale is by far my GOTY of 2015 thus far and is without a doubt one of my favorite RPG's ever.
With masterful story writing, epic music, awesome gameplay and enjoyable puzzles, you organically move through the game until you reach the finale you earned. Undertale looks cheap and simple at a cursory glance but in the end turns out to be one of the most detailed games I've played in my entire life.
Undertale is an absolute masterpiece that blends gameplay and story in an original and poignant way.
One of the most original modern JRPGs of all time, and beatable at the fraction of the time. Once you get over its primitive aesthetic, you’ll soon realise why everyone else has been so captivated by Toby Fox’s creation.
The way Undertale can move a player makes him deserve only one rating. Incredibly charming and beautiful story, and at the same time deadly funny and original adventure.

An unforgettable journey that will shape storytelling in games, Undertale effortlessly resonates with players and fills its world with depth and joy.
Under perhaps off-putting, UnderTale is a most mesmerizing title. Not sure everyone can hang on to it from the first few minutes. But once absorbed by its very particular universe and carried by its perfect writing as well as its gameplay that manages to never fall into the strictest repetitiveness, we can only congratulate its creator. It is a simple tribute. It asserts itself as a state-of-the-art experience that enriches the player as much as the RPG genre.

Though the game does have its shortfalls, like a lackluster tutorial zone and some infuriating boss mechanics, Undertale is undoubtedly a real stroke of genius. The game plays around with conventions and tropes normally associated with RPGs and subverts them in clever ways, all while telling a deeply personal story that everyone can relate to at some point in their lives.
It's been years since I've started writing reviews for ZTGD but even after all this time, I've actually never given out a perfect score to any game. There have been some that have come close, but in the end, I could always think of some notable flaw or a way the game could've been more enjoyable. In the case of Undertale, I can't think of one particular flaw or a way it could've been made more enjoyable. As is, it is as perfect as anything could be in this imperfect world of ours.
Entertaining, surprising, mind-breaking: Undertale is a labour of love that inspires exactly that emotion.
Undertale is fantastic in ways that are hard to describe. It's a love letter to RPGs, gamers, and gaming in general.
