Tales from the Borderlands - Season One Reviews
With a terrific cast of characters, a compelling storyline and some genuinely laugh out loud moments, Tales from the Borderlands easily maintains Telltale Games' upward trajectory. The few minor audio and graphical glitches are easily forgiven due to the strength of the gameplay experience and the pace rarely slows down, although the fourth episode did seem a tad meandering.
It's tough for an outsider to look at the praise Tales from the Borderlands is receiving without thinking it's a bit hyperbolic and overblown. Rest assured, Telltale's best game shows us exactly what it means for a game to be fun, as its wonderful writing seems to play on just about every emotion you have. If you thought that this studio would never top the first season of The Walking Dead, you're sorely mistaken, as the title the world thought would be mediocre highlighted the shear wealth of talent over at Telltale.
The best opening from a Telltale game to date and a promising start to a new episodic series.
In the words of Vasquez, 'cool moves' Telltale. Now, to completely knock everyone side ways, repeat this feat with Minecraft.

Overall, the game made a lasting impression on how I look at the Borderlands games and really delivered on Telltale's legacy of broadening the landscape of the universes they touch. Whether it be Borderlands 3 or Tales from the Borderlands Season 2, I can't wait to get my hands on the next one and figure out what happens to a few of my favourite "vault hunters" in the series.

Even if the game did not quite meet my personal expectations as an adventure game, that doesn't mean you won't have a good time. If nothing else, the awesome humor, interesting characters and the always welcomed insanity of Borderlands will surely hold your attention.
If the measure of a game was purely its story Tales from the Borderlands would be an unquestioned dominator. The problem is that its gameplay is almost non-existent, with some of it feeling more obligatory than purposeful. Making some of the dialogue options timed also really hurts the game as it pushes the player to act rashly and in a manner they wouldn't normally do if they had just a few more seconds to ponder their preferred choice. However, the story more than holds its own. People looking for more action in their games may be disappointed, but those who simply want an active and pleasant adventure story and are fine with the setting will thoroughly enjoy their time spent.
Tales from the Borderlands has got it where it counts and delivers a series that is more than worthy of the franchise name. It's a Telltale game that's a winner for all, not just fans of the best-selling shooter.
Tales from the Borderlands is a good choice if you're looking to get away from the drama and suspense of other Telltale Games titles. Even if you are not a fan of Borderlands, this game will get you a laugh and may even convince you to play the rest of the series to learn the whole story. With each new installment, Telltale seems to learn more and has high expectations for its next game. So far, Tales is one of the best titles from the developer by combining great characters, a good story and moments that will remain in your memory. The ending is somewhat ambiguous, so I feel like a second season may be on the way and I can't wait to get back to Pandora.

Tales from the Borderlands's visuals have aged poorly and the animation quality won't impress anyone, but the centre of the experience is the characters and story. Coming into this and expecting a traditional Borderlands experience will only lead to disappointment. This is enjoyable for people who have never played any Borderlands title, or for fans of the setting who want to see the universe get further fleshed out. The sense of humour is still intact, for better and for worse: it can be a bit exhausting for every character to be a snarky and sarcastic rogue, but at least they do have heart where it counts.
Without spoiling too much sufficed to say her one last big score involves Rhys from Hyperion and the vault key, as the story takes a turn for the worst and hilarity ensues. The story gets told from both Fiona and Rhys perspective as you get a chance to play with both of them during the course of the first episode. The entire story plays off like a Hollywood crime caper, sometimes a bit predictable but always thoroughly enjoyable. There were two or three plot twists I definitely did not see coming left of center field that really surprised me. Overall it is a solid first episode and entry into the Borderlands franchise if you are a fan of the series I can highly recommend it, as the first episode laid a nice solid foundation for the rest of the series. And even if you are not a fan of Borderlands it is still a highly enjoyable Telltale game.
The 10 hours or so it takes to beat this game will, you will be taken on one of the most enjoyable stories in the Borderlands universe. With plenty of humor and mystery as fuel, you will have no trouble burning through this game and loving every minute. With a cast of fun and interesting characters, your adventure through the barren wasteland of Pandora will be one to remember.
Tales from the Borderlands is one of the most interesting games from Telltale Games. It's comedic, has a bunch of cool characters and the soundtrack is simply wonderful. If you're into Borderlands and looking for a deeper story, Tales from the Borderlands will fulfill your dreams.
