DiRT Rally Reviews
Merciless, more simulative than any other rally game released in the last year and pretty darn satisfying. Thanks, Codemasters.

It's been a long wait, but with the spirit of the late great Colin McRae, DiRT Rally is back and is a triumph in every sense of the word.
DiRT Rally could be viewed as the Dark Souls of the racing genre; imposing to rookies, challenging, and realistic, yet absolutely gripping and full of reward! It'll initially scare some gamers, but once a comfort zone has been found - not least with the help of near endless options to aid, or challenge, the player - the game can satisfy most. A true representation of rallying, something that has not been achieved in gaming for far too long! It has some minuscule issues (once you see the PS2-age crowd models, you cannot un-see them) but, when it comes to the likes of Rally, Motorcross and Hillclimb motorsports, DiRT Rally really is the king of the road less travelled!
DiRT Rally is a realistic, beautiful-looking off-road racing simulation that's really exciting to drive. Its high level of challenge and unforgiving nature means it won't appeal to everyone, but for those who want to experience the trials and tribulations of rallying, it's an absolutely brilliant game.
DiRT Rally delivers a stunning performance on console, offering a difficult but rewarding experience which cements it as one of the best rally simulators available.
DiRT Rally is hands down the best rally game I have ever played – stand aside Richard Burns Rally, in fact it's the best Codemasters racing game I have ever played. Rally games have always been about accessibility and ease for the player and DiRT Rally went against the grain and came out on top. Amazing gameplay, brilliant aesthetics, the list is endless. You can tell the community has been involved and for that Codemasters has almost achieved Rally perfection.
A fantastic new addition to the Dirt franchise. Less approachable for new players but clearly the best outing from Codemasters in years.
This is how racing games should be - plenty to see, plenty to do and plenty to crash into. If you have any interest in the racing genre, if you remember the quality Codemasters games of the past or if you like titles that provide more than their fair share of value, Dirt Rally deserves to be on your watch list.
Dirt Rally is a true return to form for Codemasters' Dirt franchise and may be the company's best title to date.
DiRT Rally is the purest and most visceral rally game in a long, long time: it's a constant knife edge experience of risk and reward, trial and error, concentration and sweet, sweet progress. This simulation comes highly recommended to both rally and racing fans everywhere.
Dirt Rally is a tough but hugely enjoyable racer that easily eclipses its competitors and is likely destined for the rally video game hall of fame.
The DiRT game that rally fans have been craving, DiRT Rally is a triumphant return to form that every self-respecting video game racing aficionado needs to own. Don't be put off by the steep learning curve, DiRT Rally is worth getting to grips with; it's super rewarding and ultimately a fantastic rally title. Pretty much one of the best of all time, in fact.
DiRT Rally is a game that CodeMasters needed to create. While the similarities between prior games are obvious, DiRT Rally feels new and plays great.
It may not have the WRC cars and courses but it's easily the best rally simulation available.
I have nothing but praise for Codemasters' return to the muddy motorsport of rally. This might be barebones when it comes to its presentation, but with the loudness stripped away, what is here, and what matters, is the amazing execution of its gameplay. Dirt Rally is a visceral monster of a rally game, bringing an additive and unforgiving driving model that makes it all so more rewarding when a stage goes right.
Codemasters have crafted an almost perfect racing game with Dirt Rally. Some players might balk at not sharing the road with other racers, but the true rally experience is represented here in spades. Failures on the track are painful. Success is glorious. This is a title that rewards paying attention and thinking as much as it does raw skill. Some graphical peculiarities might pop up here and there, but these are only slight blemishes on an otherwise outstanding title.
Surprisingly deep, complex, and full of entertainment and exhilaration, DiRT Rally is a treat for anyone looking for advanced racing games!
With DiRT Rally, Codemasters have thrown the conventional way of looking at the sport of rallying in videogames out of the window and done it with such aplomb that the end product is all but irresistible. It could be said that the learning curve could do with being flattened just a little. We say that the harder the climb is, the greater the feeling of success is when you finally put in that perfect run, but it's understandable that not all players will feel that way in an age where going into a menu is considered to be achievement-worthy. For our money, this is easily the best rally game ever released. Not only that, it's transcended the scope of that admittedly small genre and is surprisingly close to the top of the general racing game category, too.
Dirt Rally can rightfully claim the throne of rally racers in 2016, assuming something doesn't beat the game to it. At this point, we can freely claim that Codemasters have outdone themselves and have finally come back to splendid form, giving us a racer worthy of both Dirt and the legendary CMR series.
DiRT Rally is definitely a game you should pick up, it will satisfy all your needs for extreme and intense off road racing. Even if you're not a hardcore car fan or massively good at racing games, you will enjoy the challenge that DiRT Rally has to offer.
