There's an old adage that says "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." FIFA 15 perfectly embodies that sentiment. This game subtly refines the mechanics of what was already a great series, and while it's very similar to previous iterations, that's largely a good thing.

For real FIFA fans, you'll want this latest update not just for all of the new content, but also for the finer adjustments and improved goalkeeper AI. For more casual fans however, there might not be enough glaringly obvious updates from last year's edition to do a Mexican wave for.

FIFA 15 is an excellent addition to the canon, and improves on the weaknesses of FIFA 14 while implementing engine changes as the series moves into a new generation of hardware.

FIFA 14 was an impressive launch game last fall for next generation consoles. With a little more time under their belt the development team have managed to up-the-ante with FIFA 15. While the changes may not be as robust as we have seen in previous installments in the franchise, there is no question FIFA 15 has firmly cemented itself as the best soccer game on the planet.

FIFA 15 managed to bounce back from last year's lackluster performance with subtle changes in the right places. Playing the game brought back the exciting, tense and rewarding experience of scoring a goal again. We're are looking at a step in the right direction towards the next-gen soccer game fans deserve.

If you love rich and complex management sims with almost unnecessary levels of detail, then you might want to pass on this; look towards the terrific Excel-spread-sheet-imitating Football Manager series instead. But, if you want to feel like your favourite footballers playing the beautiful game—or can't wait for football season and need to play-watch an almost-real match to scratch that itch—then FIFA 15 is the most visually impressive and functionally satisfying football experience out there. Y'know, apart from maybe being a football superstar.

FIFA 15 is another fantastic entry in the FIFA series. EA Sports managed to capture the presentation of a real life football match very well, and added with the already solid gameplay makes for an overall solid football game. Like all FIFA games there are plenty of things to do to keep you busy with FUT as usual getting the most time out of all the modes. While there are some negatives to the game, the positives highly outweigh them making this a game I must recommend to all football fans out there.

Should you buy FIFA 15? Yes. This installment has finally made it's stamp on the next generation with a polished and enjoyable game. It's animations, graphics and AI-to-human reaction is a step up to previous drones and zombies. Pacing of matches, however, lack quickness and buoyancy.

Slight changes to the visuals and overall presentation paired with slightly frustrating teammate AI yield roughly the same experience as FIFA 14. Of the new features, none are significantly impactful on the core gameplay experience. If you are a diehard FIFA fanatic, you will not be disappointed. And if you are new to the series, FIFA 15 is not a bad entry point.

FIFA 15 offers a glimpse into the future with new goalkeepers and emotion system, but at the moment it is only a tease. Regardless of that, this is still a complete and enjoyable experience of virtual footy.

Simply because the World Cup is mentioned in this year's installment, I'd say add this to your collection, but if you're neck deep in collected items from last year's title, sticking with the old might not be a bad idea.

EA Canada can't win in that respect, because whichever angle they cater toward, they'll always be upsetting someone else. It's a shame Career Mode has seen such little love this year, but regardless, there are enough changes overall that FIFA feels a very different game this year. They've not reinvented the wheel, just put shinier trims on it, and perhaps this isn't the year that the presentation needed to take centre stage.
