Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate is a tough game to score, make no mistake. Fans of the series will chastise us for rating it so low, and that's probably fair. If you're a fan, you'll enjoy it due to the sheer amount of characters on hand from all of the Warriors universes, and that over-the-top hack and slash gameplay that you already like. If you're not already deeply involved with any of the franchises though, you're going to find a game that is inescapably fun at times and that shows an awful lot of promise, but which is ultimately let down by some poor design decisions and some somewhat dodgy AI.

Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate is repetitive fun, packing a big yet imprecise punch that favors quantity over quality.

Overall Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate should please fans of the series - it has plenty of variety in characters. As for anyone else looking to get into the series, this title suffers from the same repetition as the other musou games. You can have quite a bit of fun by making the characters spout unwholesome lines though.

While perhaps not deserving of the "Definitive Edition" moniker, the long overdue Steam edition of Warriors Orochi 3 has got everything a franchise fan needs. Characters, missions, modes, weapons, levels, costumes, crossovers, meaty story - it's all here, minus online play and a few pieces of minor DLC. Ignore its aged looks and this is some of the best hacking and slashing in the franchise, the likes of which only the licensed Legend of Zelda entries come close to.

With on-the-fly character switching and chaining moves together to enable free-flowing and fast-paced action, WO3U does a good job of trying to stave off the repetition complaint that follows the series everywhere it goes…but it only lasts for so long before the feeling kicks in. It won't be for everyone, and this port doesn't do much to show it's running on PS4 by any stretch of the imagination, but with how much has been packed into this game, series fans will care very little about such quibbles.

Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate is still very much Warriors. If that's not a thing for you then this isn't going to change your mind. If you were going to try to jump in though, Warriors Orochi 3 is an excellent point to give it a shot.

Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate allows newcomers to see the start of the improvements to the Warriors series, which at one point was suffering from its own lack of ambition, and turn itself into a worthwhile hack and slash addict's wet dream.

If you are a fan of musou games then you probably already have this one on the myriad of consoles it had been ported over the years. However if this is your first time, or you’re looking for some titles for your brand new Steam Deck (where it ended up fitting surprisingly well, glitches aside), then Warriors Orochi 3 provides a solid entry point for the genre. It provides players with dozens upon dozens of hours of content to dig into the button mashing genre of musou.

Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate adds to an already massive roster and doubles down on what makes the series so special. It does, however, suffer some framerate issues on splitscreen, but it's a worthwhile addition to any Musuo fan's colelction

It may seem strange releasing Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate Definitive Edition on PC now, but as they say, better late than never. It feels archaic in some ways, but there’s no denying that even all these years later it’s still one of the best Warriors titles. And with it comprising of the base game and pretty much all of the content released post-launch, it offers a lot of bang for your buck.

The big question is whether people who have played the game before will get anything out of the upgrade. I do believe there's enough content in there to justify the purchase, and if you're a fan of Warriors games, and somehow missed either of the game's previous releases, you can consider Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate essential. It really is Koei Tecmo's Smash Bros.

Warriors Orochi 3: Ultimate Definitive Edition is a game that lives up to its definitive edition claim.

Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate is not videogame literature. It's fanfiction—rough, unpolished, and unapologetically hammy. The Warriors formula is still imperfect and Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate fails to iron out all of the flaws, but there are improvements. And as flawed as it is, there are few games—if any—that can stand up to Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate for pure beat-'em-up joy.

Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate is purely for the hardcore fans of the series, or newcomers wanting to finally jump in. There's little incentive to upgrade, especially if you played the the Hyper version in late 2012, but if you're looking for a fix of one of the best Warriors games available, then this is best solution.

Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate Definitive Edition is exactly what it claims. A definitive version of Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate that had been upgraded and put into a single purchase. It still has the problems of Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate but it is still the peak of Musou gameplay with content, characters and music.

Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate takes the game fans enjoyed on the PlayStation 3, adds the Duel mode and other characters from the Wii U Hyper port, and then throws in a bunch of new content in the form of the rewarding Gauntlet mode. Group all of that in a shinier, faster, more action-filled package, and you have yourself a winning port and expansion in one. It may still be more or less the same combat as any Warriors game preceding it, but new tweaks here and there do help to change things up in fun ways. If you're new to the series, this is as good a time as any to dive right into things (though you'll want to stay at the Normal difficulty level or lower!). If you previously bought the game on the PS3 or Wii U, this upgrade will likely tide you over until a proper "next-gen" release, which should be here before you know it. Once again, I have been pleasantly surprised by Omega Force.

If you love the genre, this is like an all-star package; and even for those a little cold on the idea of the games this is definitely worth a look.

Even though Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate is buried in some slightly lacklustre content, you're definitely getting your money's worth with this shockingly robust package. The franchise's seemingly simplistic alterations to the Warriors formula hide some extraordinary depth, and the gigantic character roster will be enough to send most fans into a daze. Even if you're new to Tecmo Koei's divisive software, this may be a perfect starting point thanks to its standalone, over the top story – just try not to burn yourself out before the next inevitable release.

Warriors Orochi 3 is a much more accessible Warriors game the most of the others in the series, and as a result becomes a much better experience. The focus here is on the action and the fun, which is wiping out the hordes of enemies and it does so like no other. There are a variety of technical flaws, but the overall experience really out shines all of them.
