Megadimension Neptunia VII remains one of the strongest installments in the series to this day, and is a title that most fans would recommend without caveats. It’s best experienced in context as part of the whole series — but if you only play one Neptunia game, perhaps to just see whether or not you gel with the game’s distinctively energetic sense of satirical humour, then this is the one you should play.
Gameplay time in Megadimension Neptunia VII can easily get into the sixty hour mark with the various side quests. The New Game Plus mode after completion allows the option of keeping various items and stats, and with three endings to discover the replay value is high. The easy-to-like characters make every gaming session enjoyable, even if it is a short burst, perfect for those who play on the go on Nintendo Switch. Megadimension Neptunia VII knows its own audience and wants to please it. It is a pity, therefore, that in the course of this process experience in general is impaired. Disregarding the technical problems of porting it to Switch and the sometimes unnecessary layers of fan service, there is a fun JRPG with a lot of content which, although not belonging to the big echelon of the genre, can surprise enthusiasts.

Should you buy Megadimension Neptunia VII? Well, that depends on a few major factors. Can you stomach shamelessly pervy leerings at the bodies of the many females featured in the story? Are you okay with playing a poorly-optimized game that's not very graphically impressive to begin with? If yes, then you just may be surprised at the quality of the gameplay that lies at the heart of this RPG. Despite its shortcomings, Megadimension Neptunia VII can be a fun game to play, and though there are plenty of better RPG's to pick up on the eShop today, it's impossible to deny the niche value being offered here. We'd lightly recommend this one, but with the important caveat that this is the kind of game that's ideal fodder for buying on a big sale in the future.

If you’ve been wanting to return to Gamindustri as it’s been a while or you want a solid RPG for your Switch that you want to bring around with you or play comfortably while our on a balcony during this social distancing time, Compile Heart and Idea Factory’s Megadimension Neptunia VII is a great choice and one that you should really look into.
Megadimension Neptunia VII is a delightful and silly JRPG romp that is sure to keep you entertained. The wide cast of characters bounce off of each other perfectly, and even if you're a newcomer to the franchise you're sure to get invested in Neptune and her laid-back, lazy gamer attitude. It's just as fun to stroll through dungeons and dive into the layered combat of the game, as long as you remember to disable the framerate-killing visual effects in this Nintendo Switch port.
Megadimension Neptunia VII has that genuine nostalgic ‘Neptunia’ feel we’ve all come to love and expect. Progression is growth though and for the few alterations VII makes to the formula, it isn’t enough to say it’s a big enough step forward in the right direction. The goofy slapstick characters, fan service, humour, and the strong narrative is still prevalent, but it feels more like a continuation rather than a breath of fresh air for the Neptunia franchise. Despite all that, being able to pick up and play it on the go makes it all worth it.
The story is typical Neptunia fluff, and if you liked previous adventures in this series, it’s enjoyable. It’s just a shame you can’t skip the gameplay parts and watch the story sequences by themselves.
Megadimension Neptunia VII is a brilliant game that's worth playing through for any fan of quirky JRPGs. That being said, this Switch version currently performs poorly and it's definitely not the best version of Nep-Nep's grandest adventure.
Megadimension Neptunia VII on Switch is perfect to play through if you haven’t already experienced this entry. The narrative holds up, but the same can’t be said for the dungeon design. The state of the Switch port is lacking modern quality-of-life updates, which does hurt the user experience, but the battle system makes it a decent RPG experience on the go.
Megadimension Neptunia VII is a wonderful game, but, as it stands, the Switch version is far from being ideal. If this is your only avenue to Gameindustri and you really want to get into the series, the game’s still playable. However, if you have the luxury of picking and choosing, then I’d pick this one up on PC or PS4. Or, better yet, just get VIIR.
Also, during the game, you have various challenges that can enhance the characters’ stats with various conditions, like jumping a certain amount of times in a stage, or length of time spent in a dungeon with a certain character as the party leader, or pulling off combo attacks, among other things. These challenges have various levels, and it can take a while to max out these challenges. So the gameplay can be a bit of a grind, but those who love grinding will have a really fun time! Megadimension Neptunia VII is a very fun game, but the very wonky and unoptimized performance leaves me scratching my head, especially since certain spots show that the Switch can handle this game just fine. But hopefully these issues will get fixed. Aside from that, I have had a fun time with the gameplay and the wacky, lighthearted story filled with fanservice, fourth-wall-breaking, and meta video game and anime jokes.
In the end, Megadimension Neptunia VIIR brings a lot of new things to the table that caters to both the players who played the prior version and to those who missed VII and are considering going into VIIR instead.
Megadimension Neptunia VII is exactly what the series needed, providing huge improvements to both the combat and exploration. Even if you're a newcomer to the series I think this is a good place to start
Overall, Megadimension Neptunia VII is a great installment to the series, and fans of the series will definitely enjoy it. If you're looking at the changes between console to PC, not much has changed, but if you didn't get a chance to play on console, now is when you can. Jumping straight into the series with VII might confuse newcomers, but series veterans will feel right at home.
It really is a shame. Megadimension Neptunia VII is legitimately one of my favorite RPGs of all time, but the issues in the PC version make it a chore to play. Again, if you own a PS4, it's definitely worth playing on that system. If not, ask yourself what you're willing to go through to see cute girls based on video game consoles have an adventure
I'm going to have to go ahead and say that despite the really strange overall feel of Megadimension Neptunia VII, it's a game that I feel like a specific group of gamers will greatly enjoy, while a more general group will have some fun playing, period. Fans of JRPG games, visual novels, and fan service will spend their time in adulation.
Megadimension Neptunia VII is definitely the best Neptunia game out so far for PC. Everything about the game was enjoyable from the gameplay itself to the dialogue and story. Idea Factory has hit the jackpot with this series and I expect more Neptunia games to be ported for PC gamers.
For the devoted fans of the Neptunia series, this is definitely a title worth picking up. It's still the same reference overdosed, trope obsessed, fanservice heavy RPG series it's always been, and for some, that's great. The new characters are decently charming, and the story is substantially longer than some of the recent Neptunia spin-offs. If cute girls based off of the gaming industry's biggest titans (and has-beens) isn't your thing, though, there are other, better, RPGs worth your time.
