Superhot is a welcome surprise for 2016. As one of the more unique FPS games out there, its style will keep you hooked for its duration. It might not have the legs or depth of its competition, but it makes up for that in terms of sheer style.

'SUPERHOT' is a very accessible arcade game with highly repeatable shooting shenanigans. I can't quite decide if the storyline is trying to be edgy or funny, but it doesn't really work on either level. Thankfully, much of it can be safely ignored in favor of the awesome physics-based gunplay.

But these are relatively small nitpicks for a game that's otherwise fun, fresh and full of flair. It's the most innovative shooter I've played in years.

Superhot initially seems like style over substance and as it develops, it proves that this isn't the case. However, it decides to take substance too far which can actively detract from the game. However, the gameplay, great design and added features more than compensate for any detracting factors.

The most subversive twist in first-person shooter mechanics, on a par with its minimalistic and powerful visual style, SUPERHOT does not disappoint. Even though the story can be a bit too obtuse at times, the way the game plays out wrap it all up quite nicely, commenting on why we choose first-person shooters so often.

Regardless of the limited content, SUPERHOT is certainly one of the most innovative FPS games I've played in recent years, and well worth playing for anyone who's tired of the same old formula.

It doesn't push its ideas as far as it should, but this is a cleverly unique puzzle game that turns normal first person shooters on their head.

Do you want to know what Superhot is? It's pure mind-control and a little bit of the ol' ultra-violence packaged into an addictive game mechanic. It's, well, super-hot.

You'll see talk online about how Superhot is "the most innovative first-person shooter I've played in years." It's a phrase people who've played the game keep using, and there's a memetic reason for that -one I won't spoil. I will, however, have to say that I'm on board with the sentiment of the phrase despite any potential ironic usage. Because it is simply true. Superhot is the most innovative shooter I've played in years.

Superhot is a shining example of how to build a game around a single clever game mechanic. Its story mode is short, but the unlockable Endless and Challenge modes provide plenty of worthwhile reasons to go back for more.

This innovative indie title gives you a hyper stylized slow motion puzzle/combat combo while stripping out everything else.

Superhot is an absolute joy to play, and it includes some great extra modes, neat story twists, and outstanding art. It's a complete package, and even though it's all over rather quickly, it's worth revisiting again and again.

Everything about SUPERHOT just feels right, right down to look of its menus and how everything ties together. Equal parts fast & furious and tense & methodical, SUPERHOT is the perfect antidote to the legions of online-focused twitch shooters flooding the market.

Superhot could well turn out to be the year's most ingenious and influential shooter, transforming each taut action scene into both puzzle and wish-fulfilment spectacle. It's short and can feel proscriptive, with trial and error woven into its DNA, but it'll make your heart race, your adrenaline surge and your mind work a little harder. It's a bold, brief and brilliant blaster.

Superhot is a highly effective expression of the gamer's neverending desire to perform cool action, but it also manages to perform some nifty narrative tricks as well. A clever, minimalistic, and totally badass indie gaming highlight.

What the Superhot Team strived to bring us is something different and by almost all accounts they succeeded. This shooter feels unlike anything I've played before and I do wish more games will follow in this example.

It might look like a shooter, but Superhot's unique game mechanic - Time moves when you move - means the game plays out more like a puzzle. You'll punch, slice, and shoot your way through waves of red shapes and feel awesome while doing it. It's over pretty quick, but once you're done, there's still a whole host of challenge levels to tackle.
