It's a level based runner game, where the goal is to beat times. The game offers ghosts but doesn't exactly teach the maneuvers needed to succeed in the game. Still, it's fun for a short time.

For those who love the obstacle style of racing and platforming, Action Henk is a treat. The level designs are great, and the simple controls and mechanics make it easy for anyone to pick up. The presence of ghosts and leaderboards gives it a little bit extra to make the whole thing addictive – enough that you may concentrate on getting the best time for one track despite others being available. While it would've been nice to have some of the PC features here, there's still enough gameplay to keep one occupied. Action Henk is a very good title that should be in your platforming library.

Action Henk isn't all that it could have been, due to some slight control issues and a hefty dose of frustration. Those with lots of patience and masochistic tendencies may find something to love, but this is a game that definitely won't appeal to everyone. It's too bad, too, because there are some really solid building blocks to be found here, in a game that takes ideas from Joe Danger and Doritos Crash Course and tries to up the ante.

Action Henk is the perfect combination of easy to learn, but difficult to master gameplay with a massive helping of nostalgia in between. You can pick it up and play for 10 minutes, sure. But you’ll still want to know what’s happened with the last three hours.

Upon returning from grabbing lunch, I walked into my room to find it full of laughter. Apparently my wife and roommates had returned from work to find Action Henk still running on my TV, and decided to tackle multiplayer. It was obvious right off the bat that there were different skill levels between them, but great features in multiplayer kept the fun rolling, instead of leaving other players in losing ruts. Action Henk is clearly a game meant for fun, while still providing a challenge for the most seasoned runner gamer.

While the art style is creative, it just isn’t very nice to look at.

Action Henk is an enjoyable little experience but it doesn't live up to the games that it clearly draws inspiration from.

A furiously upbeat and beautifully playable take on the platforming racer, Action Henk's offbeat action figure mayhem and forgiving difficulty curve is just what the genre needs going forward. It’s big, it’s colourful and it’s a whole heap of fun.

It’s been a few years since Joe Danger graced our consoles, and while we all know what Hello Games have been working on since then, there hasn’t really been a game that comes close to achieving the great mix of level design, gameplay and colorful characters that Joe left in his wake. Action Henk intends to remedy that.

A fun, familiar experience, Action Henk is a lovely little one-more-go arcade racer that’ll have you attempting levels over and over to shave a few milliseconds off your time. You’ve done it all before, but that won’t stop it putting a smile on your face.

Action Henk is an odd one. Mechanically, it's spot on, and it's hard to fault the gameplay, but the issue is that as soon as the first section has been fully completed, there is is very little point in continuing to play through it again, since it proves to be just the same thing over and over again. It may look pretty, yet within about 40 minutes, this runner hits a brick wall and it suddenly becomes a real chore to play.

Players that don’t care about leaderboard scores or bonus levels will run through Action Henk in a matter of hours… to be honest though, they’d be playing it entirely wrong. The real joy of Action Henk and what makes it so addictive is the pursuit of earning gold

Action Henk isn't a new and unseen type of game. Its total package exhibits shades of similar titles, like the precision of Trials HD, the colorful and fun imagery of Joe Danger, and the speed of Sonic The Hedgehog. The fact that it does all of these things so well, in one go, is what makes the game a must-play for genre fans. Thanks to great original mechanics like buttsliding and the grappling hook, it won't feel entirely familiar either. Some moments will frustrate players to the point of rage quitting, but they'll return soon to try again because when success in Action Henk eludes you, it often seems only slightly out of reach. It's without doubt a toy story worth experiencing.

Action Henk is a fun little blast that proves to be the very epitome of 'just one more go' and possesses qualities that should appeal to fans of the Xbox classic Doritos Crash Course, Sonic the Hedgehog, and not forgetting, of course, the Trials series. The constant need to improve ensures regular returns in the short term, although the lack of the online multiplayer and level editor included in the PC version will no doubt impact on its longevity.

Action Henk is definitely worth looking into for those who miss the long gone days and blistering speeds of, well, certain other platforming giants. While perhaps not quite as polished as it could be, with its definite lack of variety in level design and relatively short length, it's still a solid pick up for fans of those racing-like platformers. There's a lot of character built into the world, with references to other games and long-loved in-jokes. Even if it's not perfect, it's fast, it's fun, and it's a genuinely good time.

It's easy to like Action Henk. It does all the basic stuff well: simple to pick up, hard to master, fun, fast, colourful. Yet it feels like a fleeting interest.

Action Henk borrows great ideas from classic time trial games and delivers a decent, challenging campaign. Multiplayer isn't very fun, though, and it's all been done better elsewhere.

Despite not winning the Playstation Plus monthly vote, Action Henk’s speedy little adventure is well worth taking a shot at. The challenge of attaining those platinum medals, and in shaving a few tenths off your best times, is a hook that never fails to grab you, and for those with a competitive streak its fun, physics-based gameplay should be a perfect fit.

There’s one aim in Action Henk: run fast. Run faster than the ghosts, faster than your friends, and faster than strangers on the internet. Beating records is what drives you on through sweaty palms and uncountable attempts, because the feeling as you finally break one is thrilling. It’s an addictive ride that will have you pressing the restart button over and over again.

Action Henk is enjoyable and challenging, of that there is no doubt. It isn't going to win any awards for visuals – despite looking good enough to get the job done – and we'd like to have seen the comedy brand placement from the initial playroom area be used more in the levels themselves. With that said, neither of these things is going to interrupt your entertainment and the enjoyment and exquisite frustration that the game provides is more than enough for it to get our recommendation. Good stuff.
