Valkyria Chronicles Remastered Reviews
If you don't really care about portability, I would say the most ideal way to experience this game is to get the PS4 version or the PC port, as they're both cheaper and a more fluid way to play the game. But if you want to play the game on the go, then this the version for you.
The game really caught me off guard as I did not expect much of it when I started playing it , other than the positive feedback I got from other gamers. And it definitely falls into the top 5 games I have played in 2016 so far. Valkyria Chronicles is definitely a one of a kind video game experience that I can wholeheartedly recommend to anyone who has not played the game yet. Even if you don’t enjoy tactical shooters you will never find another gaming experience like this ever again. So give it half a chance and who know you might actually enjoy it. I do hope the game does well this time around because I would love for SEGA to bring Valkyria Azure Revolution here to the west so that we can get a localized release for it.
Valkyria Chronicles Remastered is a compelling game that holds up to this very day and still provides one of the best strategy RPG experiences you’ll find. It’s the same game we all know and love, just prettier.
If you haven’t played Valkyria Chronicles before then now is the time to do it.
Valkyria Chronicles is a must-have for any tactical RPG fan,and even if you’re not a fan of the genre, the story is worth the purchase alone. Valkyria Chronicles is still one of the best tactical RPGs this century.
The original Valkyria Chronicles redefined the strategy genre for many players thanks to its unique melding of turn-based combat with third-person flair. All that goodness from the original is in the remastered version, though I wish it also added more new things for returning series vets. For newcomers or series lovers who want to experience it all again, however, a good story, likeable characters and challenging combat make this game highly recommended.
Overall, Valkyria Chronicles Remastered is a phenomenal game. I have no real complaints about this game at all, every minor grievance I had I was able to overlook due to how well this game is strung together. My only regret is that I never played this game sooner.
An esoteric mishmash of genres and with an art style that belies the more sombre elements of the storyline, Valkyria Chronicles isn’t exactly an easy recommend. For me, personally, it all comes together to form a cohesive whole and has reignited my long dormant passion for strategising and turn based combat scenarios but some may come to the game thinking that the RPG elements are much more prevalent rather than simply informing the non-interactive cutscenes.
Fans of the game should certainly go back to it if they haven’t picked it up off of Steam yet and anyone on the fence should give it a go if they like tactical shooters with small RPG elements.
Having missed out on Valkyria Chronicles during its initial release on PlayStation 3 back in 2008, I'm overjoyed that it’s now available on PlayStation 4 in the form of a remaster, boasting 1080p at 60 frames-per-second. This brilliant real-time, turn-based strategy fusion has quickly become one of my favourite games of the year. It’s been a real joy to play and I’ll be playing it to death for the foreseeable future. Now we just have to wait for the sequels to get remastered for PS4 too.
Valkyria Chronicles received a lot of acclaim during its PS3 debut, and its praises must be sung again in this remastered port. Whatever Sega decides to do with the franchise from here on remains unclear, but at least fans new and old can enjoy one of their finest efforts in the last generation, not to mention one of the single best RPGs period.
Valkyria Chronicles is a charming and deep JRPG; perhaps not so difficult, but very funny, with strong emotion and depth. The excellent cel shading frames a truly excellent game.

Valkyria Chronicles returns again to the big screen.
Valyria Chronicles remaster is an excellent addition to the PS4 library. Its turn based, real time antics are just as fun and challenging as ever before. If this is a player’s first time trudging into battle, expect to be blown away, as long as patience persists.
As bizarre a mix of genres, art style, and subject matter as you could ever hope to see. But it all works together surprisingly well and this remaster is well deserved.
When it comes to franchises that are worth revisiting in a new console generation, Valkyria Chronicles Remastered stands as a sterling example of how to do things right. Despite a few nagging mechanics that ultimately still feel a bit unfair on the battlefield itself, this is still an evergreen experience that stands the test of time. This should be required playing for all of the former Xbots that are newly joining the PlayStation fold.
Valkyria Chronicles Remastered is about as straight of a port as you can get, but that isn't a bad thing. Valkyria Chronicles looked great to begin with, and the visual improvements only help. It's a little disappointing that the mechanics, story and gameplay haven't seen any noteworthy updates, but it's a great port. Fans of the game should be happy to have one of the smoothest-running versions available, and newcomers will find it the best way to experience the cult classic. Throw in the addition of Trophies, and it's a nice package, but it's strictly average as far as HD remasters go.
Whether you're an old fan who played through the first game or simply someone who has heard of it over the years, Valkyria Chronicles Remastered is worth checking out. There's a fantastic narrative, smart gameplay elements, and fresh presentation that make it worth checking out despite the lack of extra features over and above the game and its DLC.
Deep challenges and rich rewards await if you decide to take on Valkyria Chronicles Remastered. If you’re playing it for the first time, this is as good a version as any to get a taste of the excellent blend of turn-based strategy and real-time action that made the game such a hit on PS3; if you’re a returning fan, on the other hand, you might be slightly disappointed to learn that this “remastering” doesn’t look much different from the original version (or offer any new content, for that matter). In any case, there’s no denying that it’s a true original that mostly stands the test of time — and if it does well, perhaps Sega will consider bringing new PS4 exclusive Valkyria: Azure Revolution over here. We can dream, can’t we?
