The third game in the Forza Horizon series has far exceeded its status as a loud and brash spin-off, becoming a racing title that embodies the best of this generation. Beautiful visuals, pitch perfect gameplay and eternally rewarding, there are few racing games that have ever come close to what Playground Games have achieved with Forza Horizon 3.

Forza Horizon 3, then, is an incredibly fun racer with a wealth of content for you to dive into. Whilst some of the progression races feel a bit too familiar as you go on, there isn’t much negative that can be said about the game. Taking what makes the Motorsport series enjoyable to driving game fans, and throwing a healthy dose of Burnout Paradise infused nostalgia into an open world as beautiful as Australia is, Forza Horizon 3 is the most fun racing game you could hope to play in 2016. Fantastic stuff.

Forza Horizon 3 gave me the experience that I came for: Beautiful Open-World that contains a huge number of various and entertaining activities. The game has a huge number of varied cars, and encourages you to try them in different environments. If you’re looking for a cars game that focus more on the fun than the realism, then there’s no other game that competes with Forza Horizon at the moment.

Forza Horizon 3 offers many ways to customize its experience, catering to a number of play-styles and giving players the freedom to tweak systems until they’re left with something that they personally find satisfying. On the technical and mechanical level, Horizon 3 never fails to impress. It’s on the periphery of the game’s design where some questionable decisions threaten to get in the way of the fun. Nevertheless, with incredible production values and an emphasis on letting players find their own way, Playground Games has built what is comfortably one of the best open-world racing games since Burnout Paradise.

Forza Horizon 3 is not just a racing game but it’s an experience and Playground Games have for now delivered the perfect car game for Xbox One and Windows 10 PC’s. It’s graphically amazing, boasts perfect in-game mechanics and overall, the single-player and multiplayer components work on all levels! Yes, it’s pretty much perfect with a great open-world illusion set in beautiful Australia and the only thing is missing, is that smell of rubber!

There’s more to go on about in Horizon 3, more secrets and features to help firmly set it as the best racer of the year. Largely, though, it’s a game that revels in the sheer love of driving for the sake of driving. The mix of traditional races, outrageous stunts and extreme speed across one of the most stunning landscapes you’re likely to find just works.

Horizon 3 doesn't make dramatic changes to the formula, meaning it's a beautiful and pleasant experience that's best experienced at a somewhat leisurely pace.

It wants you to have fun. It will challenge you, it will ask you to improve as a driver and it will reward you for doing so. But first and foremost, it wants you to spend time in this ridiculous playground, with some of the best (and strangest) cars in the world, having an absolute blast.

The most ambitious racing game out there also happens to be a blast to play, with fantastic audiovisual design making the races and open world journey all the more exciting and compelling. Forza Horizon 3 is the best thing to happen to racing games since Burnout Paradise.

As far as the driving goes, it’s hard to find a game that is more finely tuned than “Forza Horizon 3,” but a racing game needs to be more than just the racing in 2016. Just because it’s huge and the map is littered with things to do doesn’t make it a meaningful experience for the player. Those things to do need to be enjoyable. “Forza Horizon 3” needs more variety for both solo players and multiplayer modes. There’s plenty to see in this game, but like any vacation, sightseeing gets old after a while.

Forza Horizon 3 is the best in the series yet. It features some amazing parts of Australia, amazing Australian cars and fully embraces our country, car culture and just the general “Aussiness” or our country. Dynamic weather, gorgeous lighting in both day and night help highlight the absolutely stunning Australian setting we’re in, and we still don’t know what they plan on doing as far as expansive DLC is concerned -- here’s hoping they somehow join Melbourne and Sydney together in a new map to offer up more urban playspaces, or just gives us an entire Tassie to explore.

A visually stunning title that looks and feels superb, FH3 blends the technical nuance of the main Forza series with the accessibility of Need for Speed and the unabashed joy of Burnout Paradise into a package that is a must-have for anyone with even a passing fondness for racing games.

A masterstroke of open-world game design, Forza Horizon 3 is the best arcade-style racing game on PC. However, the need for a persistent Internet connection, and some frame rate issues, keep this speedy journey across the Australian countryside from perfection.
