Lacking single-player modes, constant internet connection requirement, and absence of purpose really made this game worse. Forza Motorsport 7 win the race in every lane.

Whether you want to race against the AI, do some challenges, take-on a friend in split-screen, spend hours getting the perfect shot in the photo mode, drive around the tracks in VR, participate in a season or race your mates online, GT Sport has you covered. If you have even a tiny bit of interest in racing or racing games, GT Sport is the only game you'll need this year. It's brilliant.

I want to love it, so badly and from a pure gameplay standpoint, this is probably one of my favourite racers in quite some time.

Gran Turismo Sport will please fans of the series, but it's not going to win over those who have moved on. The team at Polyphony Digital have improved in some areas, but a bare-bones single-player mode that requires an online connection to progress sends it back for another unplanned pit stop.

Gran Turismo Sport is a bona fide virtual motorsport and that's awesome. But single-player modes are lacking and it's demonstrably outshone by Forza Motorsport 7 in virtually every area.

Your enjoyment of Gran Turismo Sport depends on what you're looking for in a racing game. If you're looking for a beefy single-player experience, you'll have to look elsewhere. Outside of Arcade mode, you can learn how to drive well and get in a good challenge while doing so, but GTS pales in comparison to the campaigns of versions past with respect to long-term, single-player engagement. If your focus is on multiplayer, then GTS is just right for you. You'll have to learn how to drive like a professional and not hit things, but the game provides you with all the necessary tools to achieve that.

Gran Turismo Sport is worthy of the name and a great driving simulator, but a lack of content compared to what the series usually offers makes it a curious beast. If you love Polyphony Digital's approach and cars, however, it will still tick a lot of your desired boxes.

Despite some real issues, it's hard to find fault with GT Sport. The game delivers stunning visuals, an excellent racing experience, and makes an effort to teach new players how to race.

It's a love letter to the driving machines of the racing world, but only time will tell if its multiplayer focus works.

Gran Turismo Sport loses the breadth that's defined the series, but introduces something just as valuable in its place.

Polyphony's racing opus returns with its trademark excellent driving and a lot of fat trimming. Lovers of the series’ offline “CarPG” will be disappointed by the reduced number of cars, tracks and offline features, as well as the always-online requirement for basic things like saving and buying cars. If all you care about is online racing, however, then Gran Turismo Sport is a more focused take on the pure driving experience minus the bloat.

Gran Turismo Sport is lacking in a true racing experience that prior releases in the series were able to deliver.

Fun and satisfying driving game with an awful lack of content that makes this game dismissable.

Gran Turismo Sport brings its best to the race with a long list of gorgeous cars and outstanding venues. As long as the servers are online, there will be vivacious fun to be had in each and every mode.

After a long wait, Gran Turismo Sport is here, and it is racing perfection beyond measure. This is the best racing game that I have ever played, overflowing in beauty, grace, playability, and precision. Driving a go-kart, a fusion-engine concept race car, or a standard Ford Focus all provide a wealth of fun and unique challenges. Gran Turismo Sport is a triumph, and will be played voraciously by racing fans for years and years to come.

One's enjoyment of Gran Turismo Sport will solely be determined by whether the prospect of learning different tracks and competing in three different online races per day is exciting to them. If you can't get into that gameplay loop then you'll want to play something else, as the single-player content is extremely limited, and even the online offerings aren't rich with features. GT Sport does a few things exceptionally well (you won't find a better looking and playing racing game), but it ultimately left me wanting more content out of it.

Gran Turismo comes to PlayStation 4 clearly focused on the online content and on the eSports, forgetting too much about the single player mode. Polyphony Digital has decided to bring something new for the saga thanks to better gameplay mechanics and realism.

Many aspects of this new-generation Gran Turismo are fantastic. It looks absolutely stunning, sounds great, drives superbly, and delivers an excellent online racing experience. However, GT Sport is a little lacking when it comes to its content. Its car roster packs some very desirable motors, but feels somewhat padded out with single-model variants, and the track selection is decent, but not outstanding. Most disappointing, though, is that this game has largely replaced the series' traditionally comprehensive PvE racing campaign with a set of tests and lessons designed to teach you how to race. It certainly does that effectively, but it does mean that those who've always enjoyed Gran Turismo's single-player component are left distinctly wanting. The game's always-online requirement may also be a problem for some. Ultimately, GT Sport is a truly brilliant driving game—it's just that it lacks the scope, scale, and depth of previous iterations of the series.

Arguably the best Gran Turismo ever in terms of the driving, and definitely in terms of the graphics, but a lack of content keeps it from getting up to top speed.
