If any of the references above tickle your taste buds, then Furi is a no-brainer. It’s a high octane blast of a game that will leave you feeling like a space samurai with a force to be wrecked with. It certainly isn’t for everyone, and by Odin, it can be quite the challenge, but its simple controls and fair but brutal learning curve definitely provides a rewarding learning experience. And, once you finish it for the first time, play through it again and see how far you have come. It may even tempt you into speed running the Furier mode.

I enjoyed my time with Furi. I also hated it. Loved the way your character moves the way you want him to, hated the way the bosses are so darn hard to beat. It’s the perfect game to satisfy your cravings for hard boss fights. Also the perfect game to destroy your controller. Or in this case, your Nintendo Switch.

Furi is an excellent action, hack n' slash shooter that tells a compelling story with an outstanding soundtrack. I'd be doing my fellow gamers a disservice if I wasn't evangelizing how much I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Furi.

Playing Furi is a considerable challenge, testing your reflexes, fighting some of the most charismatic enemies, accompanying the main character through a cryptic escape and, above all, having fun. An excellent game that we will surely play again.

Furi is a delight to play through. Its fast-paced combat and reliance on both good reflexes and getting a feel of every fight’s rhythm, alongside a very genuine sense of satisfaction when you beat a boss make for a very good action game.

I had a blast doing this Furi review. The game is very addictive, and it kept me going for a while as I defeated boss after insane boss. The character design is top-notch, the music is surreal and energetic but fitting, and the gameplay is fun and hectic. I highly recommend that you add Furi to your collection. You will not be disappointed!

A not-half-bad meeting of twin-stick bullet-hell and contemporary 3D brawler mechanics that’s brought to life by colourful boss designs and elegantly-balanced difficulty. Immensely satisfying.

If you’re a fan of bullet-hell, synthwave, neon, the eighties, samurai swords, or creepy bunny masks, then you owe it to yourself to play Furi. If you’re a fan of none of the above, but you like masterful game design then you should play Furi. It respects you; it doesn’t pander to you, it’s subtle, and at the best of times it will make you feel like a skilled and masterful warrior, because by the end of it, you will be.

From a studio I’d never heard of and who, in turn, I expected nothing special from, 'Furi' makes me feel like a fool for ever judging it so harshly. Very possibly the best action game this generation so far, this is a rare example of every facet of a game's design working perfectly to create an amazing whole. This is an outstanding effort from a studio I’m going to follow wholeheartedly from here on out.

Furi is undoubtedly repetitive, but that doesn’t need to be a strike against it. I could nod my head to its beat for a good while.

This game!! The Game Bakers… this game -- I love this game, everything about it. I wouldn’t replay it because I don’t even know when I’m going to finish. Thank you for letting Afro Samurai be a piece of inspiration in creating this. I played on Furi but, I feel like I played on Furier, but I was just on Furi! This game makes me Furious but not enough to stop playing. I’m so determined to beat this!

Furi is a surprisingly deep indie experience. Seeping from its pores with aesthetic and simple yet overwhelmingly brutal gameplay.

The action, fast-paced gameplay and amazing soundtrack make it an entertaining experience, even with its inconsistent difficulty and repetition (sometime with the long boring walks) it's still a game worth trying.

A game designed strictly around boss battles isn't the easiest sale, so it's great that Furi has a slew of fantastic encounters that are challenging and exciting. Each Jailer will take a good while to defeat, but failures can never be attributed to poor game design or inexplicable issues. However, the spotty frame rate is unfortunate. The optional time trial and harder difficulty modes are welcome additions for exceptional players. If the idea of spending several minutes to an hour or more on a single fight - no matter how well-designed it is - doesn't sound appealing, then steer clear. This Prisoner's epic is as rewarding as it is punishing.

Sure, you can play it multiple times and get better, but there is some loss of the magic there. That initial thrill made me pumped to take on the next step, and see what journey had in store for me. The feeling when you overcome the odds is wonderful.

It's good that Furi went to Switch. Now the evil bosses can be dragged with them everywhere. However, the technical implementation of this version leaves much to be desired

Furi looks gorgeous and runs well on the Switch, but its unforgiving gameplay may be too much for some. The gameplay can become frustrating and monotonous, but anyone who's willing to be challenged will be thoroughly entertained with Furi.
