10 Second Ninja X tells you just about everything you need to know about the game in its title. The story is about as quick and nonsensical as one would expect, but the game itself is a flurry of reflex-testing goodness that is addictive as its is frustrating.

For fans of hardcore games such as Super Meat Boy or I Wanna Be The Guy, 10 Second Ninja X is a fantastic game. The short bursts of gameplay make 10SNX great for people with limited time, but the difficulty won't be for everyone; grab the demo first if you're new to hardcore platformers.

10 Second Ninja X is one of gaming’s simple joys for those who relish repeated challenges in order to shave fractions of a second off of leaderboard high scores. The downside is that it fails to cater to the players who don’t immediately appreciate that level of challenge, shutting the door to them pretty quickly. Break past that barrier though? While it may not seem possible to do a run half a second faster for a three star score, persistence pays off as the slightest of shortcuts comes to heel, turning feelings of rage at the surmounting impossibility into a celebration that calls for a six pack and a cigar, before moving on to the next impassible trial.

10 Second Ninja X never truly reaches its pinnacle in the game-play department by a charming cast of characters and a surprising story push the game across the finish line.

While '10 Second Ninja X' suffers from a lack of difficulty scaling, it's still an enjoyable skill based title that is as much a puzzle game as a platformer. I felt satisfied every time I laid out the correct path to take in a stage, and it was even more thrilling when I was able to successfully execute my plans. The biggest problem is that the main game ends just as it begins to hit its stride, and it feels like the core idea could've been fleshed out more than it has.

10 Second Ninja X is a short platformer that is fast paced from the moment it begins, and it never really stops. With the interesting game mechanic of clearing a stage in ten seconds, the difficulty is increased by achieving the required stars to open up more stages. While it is a clean platformer in terms of fine-tuning the mechanics, it is a frustrating one that seeks to appeal to the platforming purists hungry for a hardcore time sink. The hours will fly by as the ninja dashes across countless stages; however, because of the difficulty, it's a tough sell for casual gamers or those not well versed with chaotic platformers.

The graphics are cute and everything is easy to see and follow without being outstanding. The game is easy to learn but the challenge should not be underestimated as the game progresses. The music is really repetitive and sounds like a tinny version of the James Bond theme stuck on a loop. The game can become repetitive after a while but it’s a perfect title for the Nintendo Switch and for a decent price on the Nintendo eShop it will appeal to those looking for a speed running challenge or something to fill a few hours. 10 Second Ninja X is definitely one of those games where you will lose track of time as you keep saying ‘just one more go.’

This minimalist, and quite challenging, platformer will absolutely make you a bit crazy if your goal isn't just to complete tough levels but also do so in an insanely limited amount of time...

10 Second Ninja is certainly well designed from a gameplay standpoint, but misses out on being great through the shear difficulty of it. But if you enjoy a real tough challenge, and if your reflexes are sharper than mine, then it might be worth a shot.

Success breeds satisfaction, failure can lead to the urge to rage quit. 10 Second Ninja X is fun, but I definitely had to limit it to smaller sized doses.

10 Second Ninja X is an improved version over the original game in every way. You won’t really miss much skipping the first game, $10.99 for a game of this quality and amount of content is easily a fair price to pay. It definitely will only appeal to a certain audience so I would advise people try out the demo before you make the plunge in purchasing the full game.

The infuriating do-over nature of 10 Second Ninja X greatly sours the experience and takes away from what otherwise could’ve been a decent game.

This game is so much more than just a rage simulator; it’s an extremely fast paced, action packed, hardcore indie sidescroller that has ninjas, robots and a dastardly Doctor Robotnik-esque villain called Captain Greatbeard. Told through the use of dark humor and some beautiful crafted cut scenes, the story unfolds and Greatbeard has kidnapped you and trapped your beloved forest friends (and as I am writing this, it’s just hit me…) inside his robot drones. How “whack-job” mental is that? It’s your job to prove to Greatbeard that your particular set of ninja skills make you deadlier than Liam Neeson and faster than a combination of The Flash and Usain Bolt by traversing through each of the levels killing his robot minions within 10 seconds.

There’s a lot to like with 10 Second Ninja X, that’s for sure. The experience doesn’t last a very long time (whether by skill or by design), but if you want to 100% the game, it’ll last you enough to realize it was well worth your money.
