A wonderfully designed zombie romp, providing a tough challenge with some fantastic humour and music along the way.

While well-placed mutations convert the humans to undead minions in Zombie Night Terror, the game itself could be just the infection needed to help more zombie-centric titles into the market. Controlling the groaning hordes is frighteningly fun and this is a 'must-play' for any apocalypse aficionados.

Take one part Lemmings, combine with liberal but equal amounts of undead flesh and 8-bit pixel art. Heat vigorously. The resulting decoction is something more potent than its constituent parts that delivers a wholly unique and heady rush. This action puzzler will have you quickly hooked. Side effects may include compulsive level replaying, RSI of your click finger, and loss of sleep.

Zombie Night Terror, a STEAM title developed by NoClip, is a unique combination of humor, strategy, and the mindless walking dead. To say they are mindless is not an understatement, as these zombies are really something stupid. The player controls the zombie outbreak in an effort to wipe humanity off the face of the planet. Managing a zombie apocalypse to terminate humanity is a challenging escapade, but spreading the pandemic is half the fun.

You know all those Lemmings you killed? They’ve risen from the dead, and now they are even more awesome in Zombie Night Terror.

The best Lemmings game since the Amiga days, except with flesh-eating zombies instead of mindless mammals.

Plotting the downfall of the human race is a rare treat in videogames, and there’s a lot of fun to be had in bringing this to pass in Zombie Night Terror. The zombie apocalypse by way of Lemmings, NoClip have done a great job of mixing their inspirations into something new and imaginative.

Zombie Night Terror is a great little tactical game, with a distinct art style and direction that makes zombies interesting again. At a low price, offering a good length that offers replay value in side objectives, there's no doubt that this is a game that should be looked at and is worth your time.

All in all, Zombie Night Terror doesn’t bring a whole lot of full-scale innovation to the table, but it’s an interesting and fun spin on a classic. The changes made to bring the theme to life all fit very well with the overall idea, and those who didn’t grow up with Lemmings as a ubiquitous presence are sure to find some new curiosities here.

The graphics, music and story of the game are part of what really makes Zombie Night Terror a puzzle game that sticks out to me

'Zombie Night Terror' makes for a delightful challenge, one that is worth revisiting in the future even after conquering all of the levels. Many of the human characters in the game are in need of grisly end, and zombies are certainly primed for that. The game falls short of excellence, but it's still an easy recommendation for anyone who might enjoy an action-puzzler with zombie b-movie humor.

The cute pixel graphics make the game ten times more haunting when a jolly pixel man with an afro is torn to shreds by a pack of zombies.

The art direction astutely compliments the gameplay and the self-referential, retro-infused style of Zombie Night Terror. It is a title that feels a lot like a postmodern love letter to games of a bygone era.

Zombie Night Terror mixes the tired undead genre with the puzzle gameplay of the Lemming series, oddly enough. It works for the most part but the game is too difficult and obtuse for its own good. There is an enjoyable puzzler here, just expect to deal with some trial and error frustration along the way.

Zombie Night Terror gets in chomping distance of greatness, only to stumble over its own shuffling feet. It’s smart, stylish, inventive and funny in its own gruesome, mildly sadistic way, but can also be a little too fiddly and demanding as the game goes on.

If you've been following my last few reviews, you know that I've had a run of games I wasn't crazy about. I had to actively avoid the urge to rate a game highly, even if it didn't deserve it - to prove to the universe I'm not just some sour bastard devouring free games and pooping out bad reviews. That said, I'm pretty happy with Zombie Night Terror. It has pretty much everything you want in a $13 Lemmings type game. The controls are easy to figure out without a manual, great pixel animation (especially when the zombies get shot), ever increasing complexity and growing toolsets, and as of this writing, bug free fun.
