Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is a potent Genki Dama to the series’ longstanding issues, and a bigger, better game than the original by every stretch of the imagination. A true must-have for any Dragon Ball fan.

Having played a whole bunch of Xenoverse, even through the frustrations of its horrible RNG systems, I can safely say that Xenoverse 2 is an improvement on all fronts.

But mostly, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 looks, sounds and feels like Dragon Ball Z. Voices are spot-on, cinematic are true to the original and the battles are epic. A few characters are way too wordy, but so is the source material, so I'll give it a pass. This is a love letter to Dragon Ball Z, and anyone who ever enjoyed the show will find something fun here. Just make sure to bring some friends.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is yet another exceptional Dragon Ball game. The story, roster, and gameplay are all exemplary, and the new and improved content in the game is absolutely fantastic. Though the game suffers from some pacing and loading issues, with remarkably average music, Xenoverse 2 is still an amazing Dragon Ball game that will make any fan ecstatic.

"Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is better than its predecessor in every way even if it brings along more of the same problems. Still it stands strong as the best in the series for the gameplay alone. The scenarios you'll find yourself in will be greatly entertaining and the amount of content here will last you for a very long time. Just understand that loading screens may play a small part in that. I can say with confidence if you're a DBZ fan, you should buy this game. Consequently, I'd even recommend it for those who just like action/fighting games in general. Let's just hope the post-launch support breathes additional life into this grand world."

An excellent port that gets even bigger on Nintendo's hybrid system because of its new controls.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 had a lot to live up to for fans of the franchise after the success of its predecessor, and while the game may not be for everyone, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 offers yet another satisfying experience for Dragon Ball fans that is not one to be missed.

If you love fighting outside of the restrictions of grounded combat, flying through the air at great speeds whilst firing off some great combos feels free and exhilarating, even if it can become repetitive over time.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 on Nintendo Switch is a very interesting late port and one that is very good but definitely could have been a lot better.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is a competent port on the Nintendo Switch. While it has obvious stutter in the online lobby and the framerate doesn't match that of its rivaling consoles, being able to play in handheld mode with little difference in quality is a plus and will help you tackle the game's expansive list of content from anywhere.

Overall, Xenoverse 2 feels more in line with what I wanted the original game to be, with its flexible combat engine, wealth of compelling content and an online component that actually worked properly from day 1. Even with the issues with the frequent crashes and the dumb AI, this is still a wet dream for DBZ fans and comes highly recommended.

While not a huge fan of Dragon Ball in general, I can say that I'm a fan of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 on the Switch. It does have its flaws. Namely with the camera and some of the training. Plus the combat can get repetitive as you mash out the same combos, at least in the early going. But I can definitely say that I found a Dragon Ball game that I can enjoy coming back to from time to time.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 was a massive game on other platforms and is even bigger on the Switch. The visual downgrades were expected, but the removal of the gray filter present on other platforms actually makes the Switch version look better overall, in this scribe's opinion at least. The brilliantly rendered cutscenes, deep character customisation and fine-tuned fighting mechanics make for a title that is easy to pick up but hard to put down. This is another case of a game that makes one wonder just how much developers can do with Nintendo's diminutive console. Fans of fighting games and Dragon Ball alike should look forward to picking this one up.

Thanks to its wide amount of content, customization options and overall long-lasting lifespan, it's possible to spend many fun hours around this game for the Nintendo Switch without feeling worn out and in full respect for the series' lore and story.

If you’re an ardent Dragon Ball fan, then picking up Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 should be a no-brainer, but even if you’re just a fan of fighting games and RPGs in general you should give it a try – the combat is fun and there’s a surprising amount of depth to the character development that doesn’t fail to satisfy.

'Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2' is the best game based upon Akira Toryiama's legendary series in quite some time. The combat feels more fluid and responsive than its predecessor, and it's packed with enough content to keep players busy for dozens of hours. A fun, if cliché, story mode acts as the cherry on top of what is an enjoyable action game with legs.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 gives the player an opportunity to explore the world of Dragon Ball and interact with their favorite cast of characters. The game's story deals with the scenarios presented in the classic Dragon Ball Z series while also adding the latest movies to the mix. As a sequel, it manages to stick to the same old formula but tries to freshen up by improving on its predecessor.
