In terms of its offerings, and with the option files and squad updates to come, I just can’t see how they can make it any better next year, but I am sure Konami have their plans.
In terms of pure gameplay, Pro Evo takes the crown from FIFA. The subtle improvements made to last years version have been thoughtful and impactful to the way the beautiful game is played. PES 2017 is, arguably, the best football game ever created.
"Overall, PES 17 is an enjoyable game; a representation of football the way we sometimes wish it to be, and a good time with a friend (or stranger). It’s not a revelation for the series though, nor is it a huge advance on its predecessor. Everyone it is claimed that this year’s PES is a return to form and I’ve fell victim to that statement myself, but now I can truly say that this is the very best PES in a long-time and its back to reclaim its championship!
Pro Evolution Soccer 17 is a big milestone and Konami can be very proud. I sincerely hope that more football-fans go out and buy this, it’s totally worth it.
Pro Evolution Soccer 2017 is a great game. Everything has improved in this game and the AI is much better in this game. Overall an extremely fun game.
Despite the lack of licensing, Pro Evolution Soccer 2017 brings nothing but sheer joy to players. Fans of this series now can be more confident that PES is getting better than FIFA, and if improvements like these keep taking place every year, there won’t be any more competition left between these two games.
PES 2017 is not perfect, it's license-related problems are really annoying but still, it's an enjoyable soccer game. The distance between PES and FIFA isn't that much after all because of this valuable game.

PES 2017 produces some of the best action on the pitch that the franchise has seen in many years, but the rest of the experience is still left trying to catch up.
From a non-footballer, here is the verdict. Pro Evolution Soccer 2017 is a great football game and it deserves to get as much spotlight as the new FIFA. The unlicensed teams are hilariously close to puns, the customisation of players and the team management aspects are fantastic, if a little complex, and the pitch play is amazingly fun. With the multitude of modes and options available, it's worthy of this year's football game crown, and it's a must-have for those who like a bit of realism and meat to their sports games.
If "PES 2017" can't overcome licensing shortcomings, then no sports video game can. It delivers a fantastic gameplay experience that is well-balanced and exceedingly rewarding.
In overall, PES 2017 is a realistic and massively entertaining experience and we can easily say that in many parts PES 2017 offers the best football experience ever made. Unfortunately the present issues are not because of the game itself but from the lack of financial supports and manpower, issues like team licenses which we actually cannot blame the developers as they did not straightly interfere with the game. But in the end, PES 2017 is truly worth trying, it has many new things to offer, a perfect variety for those who seek a great experience, even those who prefer FIFA over PES. If you have decided to return once more to the PES side then judge the game based on a proper view and way of judging, the view that points out the real football and not the view FIFA has given to you. By this means you will be able to understand the functions and the traits much better than you were supposed to.

Pro Evolution Soccer 2017 is the football game to beat this year as it is without a doubt, one of the best football simulators to date.
PES keeps significantly improving every year, but in this installment they reached a level that qualifies them to compete with their popular competitor - FIFA. It still has its own share of problems such as bad online mode, and not having the rights to include many popular clubs, but that doesn’t affect it’s how realistic, simple or fun it is to play.

PES 2017 might be a giant leap for PES, but it’s a very little step for football games. Little to offer off the pitch and a joyless chore on the pitch. For hardened PES fans there’s probably enough to satisfy, but for the rest of us we look to FIFA with hope and trepidation. Don’t screw us on this one EA!
PES 2017 is not perfect or revolutionary, but it is a solid entry into the PES franchise that fixes some of the problems of PES 2016 and features enough AI improvements that make playing a bit more enjoyable. If you want a taste of how good the game can be, try the co-op mode at a higher difficulty level - that is how we enjoyed the game the most. If you've never played football games, PES 2017 is beginner friendly. Training modes and customisable controls are good enough for new players. Experienced players will also find enough of a challenge to have a blast this game. Its only major weakness is the commentary. If that doesn't bother you, then you should buy PES 2017.
To this date there has never been a football sim that has handled gameplay the way PES 2017 does.
