Yo-Kai Watch 2 is everything a sequel should be. Bony Spirits/Fleshy Souls improves upon the original Yo-Kai Watch in every way, giving players yet another refreshing catch-em-all game with a unique story, plenty of fun new Yo-Kai, and a ton of new quality content.

Yo-Kai Watch 2 is a fantastic sequel to a fantastic game.

It can be completely disorientating to be playing a monster game without direct control over your creatures, I appreciate that. But Yo-Kai Watch 2 is a game that asks for your patience. After an initiation period the cultural context of the game will grow on anyone who has ever had an interest in Japan, and that charm, humour and raw personality of the game carries it through. I’m still surprised that Nintendo ever thought that there would be an audience for Yo-Kai Watch 2 in the west, but boy am I glad that they did.

It's the same formula as in the first game, but this time we have much more content and many more things to do, including online battles. Yo-kai Watch 2 consolidates this franchise as the best alternative to Pokémon.

I hope Yo-Kai Watch catches on to the point where we get to see everything else make it westward. The second game doubles down on the idea of celebrating Japan when a lot of developers are shying away from it, and for that and more, it has my support.

A solid sequel to the original, Yo-Kai Watch 2 opens up to the wild world outside of Springdale. With even more wild and wacky Yo-Kai to befriend and the added benefits of Internet connectivity, Bony Spirits and Fleshy Souls stretch out to a wider breadth than ever before—though perhaps a slightly shallower depth.

I had a lot of fun with Yo-kai Watch 2. If you can deal with fetch quests and a passive battle system that requires a bit of patience, Bony Spirits is a great sequel with a fun story that feels refreshingly nostalgic to experience. This is the game you wanted the first Yo-kai Watch to be.

It's fun but conformist. If you liked the first game you'll like what you'll find here.

Coming from a series newbie, Yo-kai Watch 2: Fleshy Souls/Bony Spirits is an enjoyable game, but there were a couple of things that surprised me.  The mostly-automated battles confused me at first as I wasn’t expecting it, but I did get the hang of it over time.  I just wish the user had more input during them other than healing and Soultimate moves, but other than that and the tedium of befriending Yo-kai, fans of the original game should enjoy the second outing as well.

Yo-kai Watch 2 stays along the line of its predecessor and adds some useful features. Level 5 has been receptive to the players' feedback as the addition of the so-awaited online battles proves it. With a good handling, the game stays accessible to everyone. Just like Pokemon, the franchise is ready to keep the momentum and to offer even more Yo-Kai-friends. However, the several back-and-forth and the feeling of deja-vu for those who played the first game might be a drawback. Nevertheless, whether you are a longtime fan or a newcomer, Yo-Kai Watch 2 stands out as a reference for its genre and promise long hours of fun.

If you're a fan of the series, this new installment offers a lot of things to be happy about. It's still too easy for seasoned players, but the game offers a lot of new modes, multiplayer, and a bunch of different activities to engage on.

Whimsical design and a plethora of creatures make Yo-Kai Watch 2 a gaming experience that kids will absolutely love while still providing enough meat for older gamers to enjoy. The inability to directly control some aspects of battling can be an issue, as well as its preponderance of fetch quests and grindy nature. Overall, however, Yo-Kai Watch 2’s excellent polish combined with its great attention to detail and plethora of stuff to do make it a great game for folks who enjoy the creature-collecting adventure genre. It's definitely the perfect game to tide your over before Pokemon Sun and Moon comes out.

Yo-kai Watch 2: Fleshy Souls isn't a game that's going to change any pre-existing opinions on the series. At its core, Yo-kai Watch as a series is more about the adventure than any specific goals, and that's evident in every part of the game. There are lots of good reasons to take time to thoroughly explore every inch of the game, but it's not really built for those looking for a more straightforward RPG experience. That said, for fans of the charming world of Yo-kai Watch, there's only more to love this time around.

Welcome back, Yo-Kai! The brand new sequel does still offer a different experience for those loving Pokémon, but with a simpler gameplay and battle mode. Collecting all the monsters and exploring the entire world is anyway a big challenge that everyone who loved the first episode will definitely enjoy!

Quirky as ever, Yo-kai Watch 2 is more iterative in approach than revolutionary, coming packed with the same charming character and wacky moments that many came to love in the first game. The wider world and multiplayer aspects are the key successes, but LEVEL-5 needs to be more daring to make the next adventure stand out.

All-in-all the game really felt more like an expansion rather than a sequel and yet this is not to say that it is a bad thing. If you really enjoyed the first Yo-Kai Watch then you'll definitely enjoy this one.

Yo-kai Watch 2 is a fun RPG that manages to provide some innovations and improvements compared to his predecessor. Unfortunately, some of the flaws of the original game have not been addressed yet, and some of the new gameplay elements, like train travels, can be quite boring. Despite its flaws it's still a good game, which fans of the original who don't expect too many improvements will surely enjoy.
