Owlboy Reviews
While Owlboy may have small sections that cause numerous restarts, those portions are buried underneath the overwhelming amount of great moments found within. Nearly everything about Owlboy is well-crafted. From the graphics, the soundwork, the characters and their inter-relationships, the changing state of the world, the gameplay, and the title’s ability to introduce and drop mechanics in a dynamically-paced way, Owlboy is a perfectly executed composition of story and gameplay.
While these things keep the game from being perfect, however, they don't stop it from being great. Owlboy is a must-play platformer for fans of the genre and of gaming's history in general. It's also a truly wonderful revelation on the PS4, feeling right at home on the console in a way that made me briefly forget at times that the game was a port. Come for the charming art or the offer of some quick hits of nostalgia, but stay for the sublime storytelling and fluid gameplay.
Owlboy was an incredible experience in every sense. Visually and audibly, it was a masterpiece. The characters were lovable, especially the protagonist, Otus. The story was compelling, and each new chapter gave something new and challenging to the players. D-Pad Studio clearly put a lot of love into this game and it paid off immensely.
Gorgeous adventure ten years in the making sets the bar sky-high
Owlboy was an indie game before the indie game movement really caught on. It's also really, really good.
Perfect for fans of classic platformers, the visuals, story, and gameplay come together in a way that makes Owlboy an unforgettable experience.
The warm atmosphere of the fairy tale, reminiscent of Hayao Miyazaki's movies and Team ICO's games, great gameplay in the best traditions of classics from Nintendo and a stunning soundtrack make Owlboy one of the most interesting independent projects in the gaming industry of recent years.

Owlboy is a breathtaking masterclass in platforming adventure. If you're even the slightest fan of platforming games, you owe it to yourself to add Owlboy to your collection.
All told, Owlboy is a delightful game full to bursting with character. Otus' bittersweet tale is engrossing, the supporting cast is consistently charming, and there's an admirable level of polish across the board. From its stunning visuals and soundtrack to its fun, responsive gameplay, Owlboy is rock solid from top to bottom. It took them 10 years, but D-Pad Studio has created one of the best 2D adventure titles in recent memory.
Owlboy is a wonderful adventure that hits the right notes.
Without its incredible presentation, stunning visuals and charming music, Owlboy would be devoid of anything special.
There’s very little to actively dislike about Owlboy.
Owlboy is a brilliant but short trip: a gorgeous journey into a touching story, dressed up in a metroidvania suit.
