A briefly entertaining yet inessential addition to The Evil Within universe.

Although the new arena-based melee combat is an interesting and commendable sidestep from The Evil Within, The Executioner doesn't offer much in the way of a story or deep combat, making up for it with a low price and decent replayability.

An enjoyable ride that ends way too soon and despite playing as one of the more interesting enemies in the game, you don't feel like the menace that the Keeper was when you originally encountered him. Thankfully the game makes up for its short duration in new game+ that includes more battles and something else at the end. What exactly, well that's up to you to find out. While not on the same quality as the previously two dlc titles, this is still worthwhile for The Evil Within fans.

The Executioner is short, but enjoyable. And at $5, it's worth playing on its own or as a fun way to wrap up your time The Evil Within.

The Executioner is fun. That is something that it definitely holds over the previous expansions, and the minimalistic approach to the story helps to keep players in the experience.

This is another superb example of how DLC should be done, again investigating other methods of play and other stories within an established world. Sadly, in comparison to the previous DLC, this just doesn't stand out. Regardless of the issues shown, though, for the low asking price, the enjoyable arcade action and enough unlockables to create incentive for a few playthroughs, this is still well worth picking up for The Evil Within fans.

In short, this is not a game for everyone. Still, I had a cousin who totally enjoyed playing this game and bashing the undead all over the place. If a first-person, Splatterhouse-type game is your idea of a good time, though, you'll want to give this game a look.
